HS hoops from last night and more games this evening

We have already received a few scores this morning from our readers that didn’t make the paper and here’s one for you from Burlington:EG girls fall to Williams….

Eastern Guilford lost 60-57 at Willaims after being down 19-2 in the first quarter. They came back and led 51-50 late in the fourth quarter before the final outcome. Miranda Jenkins had 19 pts, 6 assists, 4 rebounds. Capricia Smalls had 16 pts, 5 assists, 4 rebounds. Kristin Crosby had 10 pts, 3 rebounds, 2 assists.

In the boys game it was BW over EG 77-52.

Girls action in Winston-Salem:
WS Reynolds topped Page 49-40, Chevena Pickard had 15 for the Pirates and Brittany Drew had 10.
The boys game saw Reynolds defeat Page 74-65 and Julius Brooks led the Pirates with 18 points.

WS Reagan sent the Smith boys to (0-8) while taking out the Golden Eagles 82-49.

The Dudley boys scored 120 against Bartlett Yancey last Friday and 116 last night in their 116-39 win over Rockingham County. PJ Hairston had 31 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists in 21 minutes to pace the Panthers. Brendan Wyatt had 14 assists for Dudley and Brandon Pennix pumped in 28 BIG points.(BP 12-14 from field/4-9 at line) I think Pennix’s nickname is BIG…Chris Whitsett, who to me is the most improved player on the team, had 13 points in 19 minutes…The freshman Reggie Dillard added 12 and Barry Scoggins came in off the bench to give Dudley 10 points in 10 minutes. Dudley was 14-21 from the foul line and RC went 1-2, while Dudley shot 8-21 from three-point range and RC was 2-4….The Panthers out-rebounded the Cougars 39-15…

The Dudley girls are very quick and they ran right past Rockingham County 70-30. Terry, Roach, Patterson, Wilkerson, Farr…They all played well and Helen Terry was “All Day” from the floor. Wilkerson is one of the top freshman players in the area. With the speed of Terry, Roach, and Patterson, Dudley will be tough to stop in the Triad 3-A.

Christian McCain had another productive night(25 points/12 boards) as Northern beat Bartlett Yancey 82-43. Michael Neal and Jonathan Frye had 14 each and Jacob Lawson added 8 for the (4-1) Nighthawks.

The Northern girls put up big numbers posting a 104-30 victory over BY. Good to see Samantha Coffer back in the NG lineup and she put in 26 to help Kelly Tessigore, who had 27 points in leading the N’Hawks to the win.(The Dudley-Northern games for both the girls and boys are going to be good ones and I do believe the first is set for January 9 at Dudley.)

It what must have been a very strategic battle, the Southeast Guilford Falcons slipped past the Ragsdale Tigers 25-22 at SEG and the Falcons(6-2) are the early leaders in the clubhouse in the Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference. The Ragsdale boys have yet to lose a game(9-0) as they handled SEG 61-47 on an evening where Jay Canty was strong again, with his 31 points for the Tigers.

The Grimsley girls rolled over WS Atkins 71-25 and that gives the Whirlies a (3-3) mark for the year. The Grimsley boys defeated Atkins by 19, winning 66-47. Manley, Williams, and Gourley led the winning Whirlies(6-1).

High Point Central grabbed two wins from Glenn. The HPC girls were 41-33 winners and the boys rode 15 points from Drew Adams to a 71-55 victory. The freshman, Cedrica Gibson, had 12 for the Central girls.

The Western Guilford boys got 12 points from Reggie Perkins and 12 more from Jordan Williams and that allowed the Hornets to win out over Northeast 51-41. Perkins and Williams have been the Hornet leaders in pretty much every game this season. I did not see anything on the NEG-WG girls….

Coming up tonight we have:
Mount Tabor at Page
Grimsley at North Davidson
Southeast Guilford at Southwest

  1. It is good to see Brandon Pinnix put up the numbers. I remember him during his 1yr playing middle school ball. A man amongst boys. He went from 7th grade to 9th grade. Guess Coach Price couldn’t wait another year. And yes his nickname is ‘Big’ or as we call him ‘Biggie’. He has developed into a great player. Can’t wait to see where he plays next. I thought the Dudley girls and RC would have been a closer game. Interesting to see how NG will do against both teams.jan 9th(dudley) and 13th(rc) are the match days. Newcomer Vontreece Hayes is still fighting for her playing time, she had 4pts 10 rebounds, 2 blks, 3stls last against BY, so hopefully by those dates she will be a dominating force down low to stop both teams.

I was also surprised by the low scoring SE/ragsdale girls game. Will be interesting when ragsdale meet NG in the 1st round of the Pizza Hut invitational.
