River Mill 74 South View 71 (Overtime)

(Clinton) River Mill decisioned previously undefeated 4-A South View 74-71 in overtime, to win the Championship of the Nathan Gay Holiday Classic.

The fast-paced,exciting game featured seven late lead changes during regulation. South View’s Amber Calvin (the 2007 State Championship MVP) scored 20 of her game high 29 points in the second half. River Mill’s balanced attack featured four players in double digits.

Three starters fouled out for 1-A River Mill. Reserve Jazz Alvarado sank two foul shots for the Lady Jaguars with 3 seconds left to seal the margin of victory.

  1. I know that River Mill has been playing really well since getting blown out by East Davdson last month, but I heard that South View was supposed to be the best team in the state. Even better than East Davdson and Bishop McGuinness!
    Has River Mill really gotten that good?
