Creed is the MAN indeed for the Ragsdale wrestlers

Jacob Creed was the winner for the Ragsdale Tigers at the Jim Horney Invitational Tournament on Wednesday and Creed might be the most successful high school wrestler to ever come out of Guilford County.

Creed pinned Johnathan Bennett of Southeast Guilford in two minutes and forty-one seconds to win the 135 pound weight class in the tourney.

Ragsdale won the tournament team title led by Creed’s pin in 2:41 and the Tigers were followed in order by SEG, NWG, Thomasvile, NEG, Southern Guilford, and Page in the team standings.

Creed will probably end up with right at 145 wins and four state individual titles by the time his senior season is complete. Jacob Creed is the MAN indeed for the Ragsdale Tigers…..

Jim Horney wrestled for Ragsdale and later was the head wrestling coach and Athletic Director at Southern Guilford. I believe Horney wrestled at around 145 while in high school at Ragsdale and he had a brother, Michael Horney who wrestled for the Tigers at 126.

  1. Jacob has a chance this year to be a 4-time State Champion. His older 2 brothers were also very accomplished wrestlers and went on to wrestle in college.

Andy, thanks for doing the article on Jacob. While he would never ask for it, it’s nice to see him get recognized.

Congratulations Jacob. The Ragsdale community is very proud of you.

  2. I’ve seen Jacob wrestle at the Super 32 and he is the real deal!

Jeff and family should be mighty proud!
