Area hoops scores as we approach Pizza Hut Invitational

The Southeast Guilford boys topped Ledford in the New Bridge Bank Christmas Tournament, 61-56. SEG boys go on to round two and were led yesterday by the backcourt of Trey Artis and Josh Cobb. Artis had 15 points and Cobb added 14 for the Falcons.

The SEG girls with Paris Alston leading the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds crushed Central Davidson 66-20. SEG goes to (9-3) with the win and both Falcon teams won this tournament last year.

No news on the Dudley girls or the High Point Central girls. Dudley has been playing down in Puerto Rico and HPC was playing Ashe County in the finals of the High Point Enterprise tourney last night.

(HPC girls fall to Ashe County 65-60 after entering the 4th quarter with a 20-point Bison lead and they could not hold on to fall to 9-2. HPC boys stopped Southen Guilford for the third time this season.)

The Dudley boys lost one game while down in Puerto Rico, but they bounced back to claim a 69-66 win over St. Francis in the final game of the tournament. PJ Hairston had 20, Brandon Pennix had 18, Reggie Dillard chipped in 11 and Brennan Wyatt pumped in 10 for the (9-1) Panthers.

The High Point Andrews boys grabbed a low-scoring 46-34 win over St. Dominique in a tournament down in Florida. Earlier in the tourney the Red Raiders won a game by the score of 28-18. HPA improves to (8-4) on the season and they were led to their most recent victory by Tony Washington’s 14 points.

Bishop McGuinness, the Villians, topped the Grand Bahamas 81-46 to go (10-1) with the regular one-two punch(Double Trouble maybe, but don’t tell the Carolina Panthers’ DeAngelo Williams), that’s Aaron Toomey and Ross Diachenko sparking the BMV to victory. Toomey had 24 and Diachenko 21 points.

The man who may have the best name in the area, Deuce Bello, was the MAN again for Westchester Acadmey at they defeated O’Neal, 62-33. Bello beat the horn for 22 points and he hit the deuce on numerous attempts to send his team to (11-0) for the season.
