A closer look at last night’s high school games

In action for the boys last night it was Ragsdale topping Randleman 80-32 with Jay Canty going off for 24 and the Tigers are now (15-1) and tied with Dudley for #2 in our poll.

The Page Pirates won over East Forsyth in the boys game 44-38 with Mitchell Oates hitting 6 free throws in the late stages to lead the Pirates and Julius Brooks had 12 for Page. Chevena Pickard’s 28 points helped the Page girls top East 55-30 and now the Page ladies are (7-7). Paul Lambeth has more on these games later here at the site.

The High Point Andrews boys are now (10-4) after their 75-47 win over the Glenn Bobcats. Jordan Reid led the way with 14, Corban Collins had 11, Terry Biles 10, and Charles Goodwin and Darius Rogers had 6 each for Coach James Abell. Good conference win by the Red Raiders.

Glenn defeated the HP Andrew girls 45-41 in overtime. Glenn(10-4) and HPA(8-5).

The Western Guilford boys dropped Rockingham County 56-29 behind Reggie Perkins’ 18 points, but the Cougars turned the tables on the Hornets, taking WG to the cleaners, 63-39. The Southeast Guilford boys eased past Southwestern Randolph 58-52 with Chuckie Becton having another big game and the SEG girls knocked off SWR, 62-53, with Price and Alston having 15 each for the Falcons(11-3).

WS Atkins stopped the Southern Guilford boys 74-65, but the Camel girls had no answer for the Storm with SG rolling to one of the biggest wins in team history, 71-18 over Atkins. Camille Horne had 19 for the Lady Storm as they go to (2-0) in the conference for Coach William Whitaker. EG-SG waiting in the wings……

More on the girls with Bishop over Mt. Airy 56-36, SWG(6-8) tops WS Carver 49-37, High Point Central past Grimsley 49-44 and Northwest Guilford behind Gretchen Bennett’s 17 points defeated Smith(3-6), 58-37…..

Other boys finals saw Morehead win over NEG 58-50, plus High Point Central(8-4) got the best of Grimsley(10-4), 67-44, with Shawn Bethea getting 13 for the Bison and Keith Manley leading the Whirlies with 22. Westchester Academy hit High Point Christian with a 54-41 loss and HP Wesleyan rolled over North Raleigh Christian 85-47. Deuce Bello led Westchester with 15, Jermaine Martinez was the top man for High Point Christian with 13, James Robbins had 28 for Wesleyan and Jon Johnson added 17 for HPW.

Eastern Guilford against arch rival Reidsville. Eastern 67 Reidsville 57 and EG is now 2 and 0 in Conference play.

Bishop took the early lead in the first qtr and managed to stay ahead all night. MA rallied in each quarter to cut the lead to a single posession but the Villains never relinquished the lead. Behind Diachenko’s 24 first half points Bishop took a 6 point lead to the locker room. In the second half it was the same story as the first- Bishop build the lead, MA rally back. Aaron Toomey had 20 second half points for mcguinness. Wade Moody scored 26 to lead MA and robbie reavis had 23.
