Bailout plan for WOG at the Josh Howard Scholastic Challenge!

MLK Day basketball is coming up on Monday at the Coliseum Special Events Center and it all brings back memories of watching LeBron James hit the Gate City a few years back, but the new talk out today is that Word of God and John Wall might not be coming here at all.
*****THEY ARE NOT COMING.*****

The word on the street is that Word of God has dropped out(bailout plan)and now Ragsdale will not meet John Wall, CJ Leslie and company, but that the Tigers will be facing Deuce Bello and Westchester Country Day (Westchester Academy) out of High Point instead.

Anybody got more news on this one????? Why did Word of God drop out?????

We checked into this further and Word of God won’t be here and they decided not to honor their contract because they wanted up-front money to come here and play on Monday….

Word of God out/Westchester Country Day and Deuce Bello in….

Here’s the lineup from the Greensboro Coliseum web site and we plan to be there in full force on Monday…….(The Coliseum site had their information updated with the changes just as I was getting the info set and up on our Greensborosports.com site. The first time I went by the Coliseum site still John Wall and Word of God and minutes later the changes are in.)

In a scheduling change, the Josh Howard Foundation NC Scholastic Classic has announced that High Point’s Westchester Country Day School will face Ragsdale in the event’s 6:00 pm game. Word of God, Ragsdale’s originally announced opponent, withdrew because of travel schedule reasons.

Westchester is led by a pair of sophomore sensations, shooting guard Deuce Bello and point guard Ike Nwamu. The 6-3 Bello is being heavily recruited by Wake Forest, Oklahoma State and Baylor. Nwamu, a 6-2 sharpshooter, is the other half of the dynamic backcourt.

Tickets are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets including participating area Lowes Foods locations, FYE and Macy’s stores, charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or at the Greensboro Coliseum box office. All tickets are $10.00 and seating is general admission. The first 400 kids in attendance will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of the Josh Howard Foundation.

Featuring top high school and prep teams, the NC Scholastic Classic will feature elite prep teams and a host of Division I basketball prospects. Other top players include Duke recruits Ryan Kelly, a 6’ 9” forward from Ravenscroft and Christ School’s Mason Plumlee.

In its first year (2003), the North Carolina Scholastic Classic brought future NBA superstar LeBron James to the Triad, drawing a crowd of 16,220, a North Carolina state record for a high school basketball game. Other future NBA stars that have appeared in the Classic include Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Josh Smith (Atlanta Hawks).
