The Pirates slam The Whirlies.. In the end, literally. 55-50

This was a tough grind it out type of game for both teams. The largest lead for either team was 5, and that was at the end of the game.

Grimsley edged Page in the first quarter riding high on Carter Gourley’s two 3-point field goals. The Pirates scrappy play created Grimsley turnovers in the 2nd quarter which resulted in a 34-28 lead at the halftime buzzer, Jordan Weethee hit a last second 3-point shot that was off balanced and didn’t look like it was going to fall. The 3rd quarter was very Manley, Keith that is.. and he took control giving the Whirlies some much needed inside presence. Grimsley leading by 3 going into the final quarter, a quick bucket and then 3-point basket by Mitch Oates gave the Pirates a 2 point lead, and they wouldn’t look back in this one. Julius Brooks had a slamma jamma with 2 seconds left to give the Pirates a ball game ending exclamation point in Bob Sawyer Gymnasium.
