Western-Northeast split the bill

In the girls contest the Lady Rams pulled away late for a 52-43 victory. Talesa Milton led three Lady Rams in double figures with 16 and Britney Clency of Western led all scorers with 17. Northeast moves to 6-10 (3-4 in conference) and Western drops to 5-12 (3-5).

In the boys game Coach Curtis Hunter’s young Northeast squads struggles continued as the Rams dropped to 3-13 (1-6) thanks to a 61-47 defeat administered by Art Wade’s Western Guilford squad. The contest remained close thru the first three periods. Western established a 29-19 lead at the break but Northeast battled back closing to within three on several different occasions, the last at 40-37. The Hornets however pulled away starting late in the third period and were never threatened down the stretch. RJ McLaughlin led a balanced Hornet attack with 15,De’Eric Baldwin contributed 14, Jordan Williams tallied 13 and Montae Alston added 10 for Western. Antwaan Wilkerson led the Rams with 13. Western snaps a 2 game skid with the win moving to 11-6 on the season, 5-3 in Triad 3-A action.
