Ragan-Brown Court to be Named for Jensen, Legendary Players to be Recognized Jan. 30-31

Guilford will name the court in Ragan-Brown Field House for long-time coach Jack Jensen, and six legendary basketball players will be recognized during Basketball Legacy Weekend Jan. 30-31.

The court dedication will occur following the 3 p.m. men’s basketball game against Randolph-Macon Saturday, Jan. 31. Jensen won 386 games in 29 seasons as men’s basketball coach and directed the Quakers to the 1973 NAIA national title. He still serves as golf coach.

Also following the game, the college will recognize four former players whose jerseys have been retired: Dan Kuzma (1960-64), Bob Kauffman (1964-68), M.L. Carr (1969-73) and World B. Free (1972-75).

On Friday, Jan. 30, at halftime of the 7 p.m. women’s game against Washington & Lee, Elizabeth Parker Haskins (1972-76) and Laura Haynes Spainhour (1994-98), whose jerseys have been retired, will be honored.

On each day, a reception for all will follow the game in Alumni Gym.

  1. This is another well-deserved honor for this Hall of Fame Coach. His accomplishments as a coach are recognized by his recent induction into the Golf Coaches Hall of Fame and the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. To those of us who have the pleasure of knowing him, he is an even better person. Congratulations Coach.
