HS hoops tonight: Heavy conference lineup

Page at Northwest Guilford….Page boys and NWG girls unbeaten in Metro 4-A Conference….Foures, Bennett, and McIntosh for NWG girls and Pickard and Drew for Page girls with Brooks, Weethe, Oates and Finney needing to have must-games for Page and NWG will have to hit their outside shots to stay in this one….

Smith at Grimsley….Both Smith teams have shown marked improvement and we will see how well they fare on the road at the Bob Sawyer Gym. Smith girls big and strong and Smith boys have Jon Koger who is All-Conference material. Grimsley’s Keith Manley, Aaron Wise and Max Miller want to finish strong(all seniors), we will see how this one unfolds…

East Forsyth at High Point Central….Danny O’Brien has been hot lately for EF and HPC is running out of time for both of their teams in Metro play….

Dudley at Bartlett Yancey…Panthers should have no problem on the road with both boys and girl teams in very good shape as we head to end of January.

Northern at Northeast Guilford….I do believe the NEG girls beat NG earlier in the season and this should make for a good re-match with the #2 spot in the Triad 3-A up for grabs for the girls and in the boys game, NEG has been struggling and NG should be able to name their number and stay one game back of the Dudley boys in the Triad 3-A….

Western Guilford at Morehead….Boys game should be a test for the Hornets, but the girls game should be all Western Guilford and Brittany Clency….

Eastern Randolph at Ragsdale….The Tigers are on a roll and both the boys and girls are in position to win or share the Conference’s top spots as they head into the tournament….Jay Canty is on the front cover of every publication that you pick up these days….Jamestown News, N&R, Sports Carolina Monthly, The Adams Farm Gazette….

High Point Andrews at WS Parkland….James Abell has the Red Raiders ready and poised to take the Piedmont Triad 3-A Conference regular season crown as the Raiders enter this game tonight with Charles Goodwin, Corban Collins, Tony Washington and company at (4-0) as they hit the half-way point of the conference schedule….Raiders might be looking to run the table in the conference in their last year as a 3-A. Next year they move down to the 2-A ranks, while everybody else with the exception of WS Carver, goes up to the 4-A level….

Southwest Guilford at Glenn….SWG girls are making some moves and our High Point scouts tell us they are young and that they now have Megan Tate in school at SWG, but she can not play again until next year, her senior season….

Southeast Guilford at Trinity….The SEG boys have had a very competitive year with the emergence of Trey Artis, the addition of Josh Cobb and the step-up of Chuckie Becton. SEG a much better team, but tonight they have to deal with Josh Pittman and Trinity at Trinity…Might be a #2 spot on the line….SEG girls dropped that key game to Ragsdale last Friday night and we are still waiting on the return of Amy Beasley….

Eastern Guilford at WS Atkins….EG girls will have a chance to mix in the starters and the bench in this game versus the Camels and we should see Capricia Smalls stay on her run with Jenkins, Jamison, and Crosby and “Little Momma” may be the defensive player-of-the-game by the time this one is over…EG boys have a very good shot against Atkins and the Wildcats will host Reidsville this Saturday at UNCG….

Southern Guilford at McMichael….Both Storm teams need this one in a bad way….SG girls are still in the hunt and the boys just need to win another game at this crucial stage of the season. Horne, Seegars, Burton, Crook, Thompson and Whitaker are the names to watch for….

Also tonight we have:
Bishop McGuinness at South Stokes
American Hebrew Academy at High Point Christian
Oak Ridge at Westchester Country Day
Caldwell Academy at Carolina Friends

Off tonight:
Greensboro Day School and High Point Wesleyan:They play each other at GDS on Friday….
