Eastern girls win again among last night’s hoops highlights

Eastern Guilford 58 McMichael 32‏

Eastern Guilford raised its conference record to 8-0 as they defeated Mcmichael on the road 58-32. Amerijah Jamison hit three- three pointers to lead the Wildcats with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen Keyiarra Purcell scored a season high of 9 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Eastern rested all of its starters during the second and fourth quarters.

*****We said here at the site back in late December, that EG should focus on the CONFERENCE games and it looks like somebody read that piece and the Wildcats are still rolling in the North State 2-A at (8-0).*****

Other winners were the Dudley girls with Helen Terry, Desiree Drayton, and Brianna Patterson(please send us more names) topping Northern Guilford by 30, the Page girls won over Smith according to our early morning phone calls and West Stokes just got past the Southern Guilford girls 58-57.

Also last night it was the Page boys over Smith 89-59 with Jordan Weethe hitting for 23, Southern Guilford got another win(now two straight) with their victory over West Stokes 56-52, the High Point Central boys bested Northwest Guilford in a key Metro 4-A game 68-66, Northeast Guilford found the “W” column in a 60-39 boys win and the Eastern boys topped McMichael 63-55…..

Other girls action saw Northwest Guilford get past High Point Central 53-45 with Melisa Foures knocking down 24 and Gretchen Bennett 19, Northeast Guilford made it a Ram sweep of Morehead with the girl’s 42-25 win over the Panthers. Rockingham County took care of the WG girls beating the Hornets 57-40.

  1. Page moves to 16-5 (7-0). 8 game winning streak. Looking to make that 9 against Grimsley in Mac Morris Gymnasium. They are trying to go 10-0 in the conference for the regular season and hopefully sweep the Metro tourney too. #1 seed in playoffs or bust.

  2. The girls score for NG/Dudley game was 72-47. NG was better this time around against the quicker dudley squad. They outscored Dudley 14-8 in the 3rd qtr. Kudos to the girls for fighting til the end.
