Bishop broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter outscoring the Granite Bears 24-15. A packed house saw the first three quarters swing back and forth between the Villains and the Bears- Bishop rallied to a five point lead going into the fourth. In the second quarter Bishop was led by Aaron Toomey’s nine points and crucial baskets and putbacks by center Robbie Fitzgerald. MA was led in the first half by sharp shooter Robbie Rieves’ 16 points. In the decisive fourth quarter, Bishop’s big three of Diachenko, Toomey, and McSwain combined for 17 points. Mt Airy would rally in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to eight, but clutch free throw shooting by Steve Nealen (4-4) down the stretch seald the win for the Villains. WIth the win, Bishop claims the Northwest 1A conference regular season title for the first time since they entered the league four years ago.
