We need to support our local Greensboro YWCA

The Girls and Women in Sports Awards Dinner is coming up soon and this is the Major fundraiser for the Greensboro YWCA and they need the funds to keep their doors open.

We need to support the local Greensboro YWCA and there is a chance to help them make and difference and keep the doors open with the upcoming 3rd Annual Girls and Women in Sports Awards Dinner.

The event is set for Saturday April 25 and it will be held from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm at the NC A&T Alumni Foundation Event Center. The proceeds from this dinner will benefit our local YWCA located in downtown Greensboro just behind the Central Library.

The cost for the dinner is $40.00 for individual tickets and the group table sponsorships are available for $750.00. You can purchase tickets by seeing Mildred Powell at the YWCA, their physical address is 1 YWCA Place and they are located just behind the downtown library.

The dinnner will include special award presentations with the Kay Yow Oustanding Female in Sports Award being one of the biggest, this year in particular.

Other awards to be presented on April 25 at the Girls and Women in Sports Awards Dinner include:
the Community Leader in Sports Empowerment Award
Coach/Teacher in Sports Empowerment Award
K-8th Grade Achievement Award
9th-12th Grade Achievemenet Award
and the College and Above Achievement Award

The featured guest speaker for the Girls and Women in Sports Awards Dinner will be Greensboro’s very own, Caroline Lind, Olympic Gold Medalist in Women’s Eight Rowing. The Olympic Medalist, who attended Page High School where she was a member of the girl’s basketball team and she is the daughter of former Duke men’s basketball star and local attorney, Fred Lind.

Caroline Lind will speak to the audience and you can participate by buying tickets and attending the event or you can nominate your favorite Guilford County female Coach, Teacher, Athlete, or Sports Figure. If you order your tickets for the dinner early you might win an ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament Package.

  1. I hear Obama is giving out tons of cash. Maybe someone should call our congressmen and see if we can git some for this organization.
