Greensboro College women make it 15 straight

Raleigh, N.C. — Dione Eccles (Clemmons NC/West Forsyth) tallied a game-high 24 points as twentieth ranked Greensboro College (20-1, 14-0 USA South) won at Peace College, 90-67, on Thursday night. Kim Enoch (Mebane, NC/Bartlett Yancey) added 16 points and six rebounds in The Pride’s 15th straight win.

Additionally, The Pride tied the best-ever USAS regular season mark at 14-0. (UNC Greensboro and Coach Lynn Agee in 1985-86 and 1986-87 in 14-game season; The conference now plays an 18-game slate.)

Eccles was 9-13 from the field and made four 3-point baskets. Enoch made five of her six shot attempts. Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) and Nikki Wilborn (Graham NC/Graham) both had 12 points for The Pride.

The Pride led 41-27 at the break. For the game, GC shot a scorching 57-percent (33-57). Peace shot 39-percent (26-66).

Brittany Lynn and Christy Freeman netted 17 and 16 points respectively for Peace (9-13, 5-10).

Greensboro posted its fifth 20-win season in program history and fourth under Head Coach Jason Tuggle.

The Pride seeks its 16th straight win on Saturday when NC Welseyan visits for a 2 p.m. contest. It will also be senior day and Pink Zone for cancer awareness.

  1. The Tuggle boys really have Gboro college playing some great basketball. I have played a lot of pickup with the Tuggles and they certainly know their basketball. My daughter and I try to make it to a couple of Gboro college games a year. This year’s squad is exceptionally good. If you haven’t had a chance to go to a game, you really need to go and see them. In the past, their hasn’t been an admission fee and it is a great place to bring the family. The men’s team normally plays right after the women so you can get to see two games. Go out and support the Pride. BTW, I also make it to a couple of Guilford college games. Go out and support the Quakers as well.
