Record-setting day for Greensboro College women

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro College women’s basketball team set a USA South record for wins Saturday with a 69-52 victory over visiting N.C. Wesleyan on Senior Day. It was the 15th straight conference win for The Pride (21-1, 15-0) and the 16th straight win overall. Ashley Burnette (Chapel Hill/Northwood) led GC with 10 points.

Despite an off shooting night from the field, GC shot 12-12 from the foul line in the first half to claim a 30-25 halftime lead.

Dione Eccles (Clemmons NC/West Forsyth), Kim Enoch (Mebane, NC/Bartlett Yancey), and Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) each scored nine points. Jordan Joyce (Collinsville, Va./Bassett) finished with a team-high nine rebounds. GC out-rebounded Wesleyan 50-40.

Wesleyan’s Essence Chambers led all scorers with 13 points. Teammate T’Keya Holloway added 12 points. The Bishops fell to 5-17 overall and 3-12 in conference.

Prior to the game, four Pride seniors were honored: Katie Freeman (Thomasville NC/East Davidson), Jamie Motsinger (Wallburg NC/Ledford), Eccles and Chelsea Thomas (Durham NC/Apex).

It was also “Think Pink” for breast cancer awareness.
