Southern Guilford falls to Winston-Salem Atkins in round one of the North State 2-A Conference Tournament:

WS Atkins boys 71, Southern Guilford 65 (OT): Joel Oglesby had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Austin Higgins added 20 points and 14 rebounds as Atkins edged visiting Southern Guilford in overtime for a first-round win last night.

Atkins led by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter, but Southern Guilford stormed back by making five 3-pointers, including a game-tying basket by Desmond Seegars (24 points) with five seconds left that sent the game to overtime.

The Camels pulled away in overtime by making 7 of 8 free throws.

Atkins will play at top-seeded Reidsville tonight in the semifinals.

McMichael at Eastern Guilford tonight at 7pm

WESTERN ALAMANCE 48, BARTLETT YANCEY 47: At McLeansville, Western Alamance was able to play keep-away and run out the clock in the final seconds to preserve a first-round victory in the Triad Conference Tournament at Northeast Guilford.

Kyler Gregory hit four 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead all scorers and Cameron Baker chipped in 12 points for the Warriors (13-11).

The Warriors(#4 seed) advance to play #1 Northern Guilford in Wednesday night’s semifinal.
