Reidsville boys over Eastern Guilford 75-73 for the North State 2-A Conference Championship.
from the edendailynews.com:
Using a series of clutch plays down the stretch, Reidsville fought off Eastern Guilford 75-73 Thursday night to put a cap on an unblemished North State 2-A Conference season.

A 10-foot jumper by senior A.J. Williams was the biggest of them all as it came with one second left and gave the Rams the two-point edge and the conference tournament championship.
The Rams had already won the regular season title with a 10-0 record. The conference tourney championship came on a pair of nail-biters. They had slipped past Winston-Salem Atkins two nights earlier 66-62.

Eastern Guilford, which led most of the game, slipped to 11-13 and counted three losses to Reidsville. Both teams will play in the state 2-A playoffs which begin next week.

“I’m so proud of our kids,” RHS coach Bill Walton(former Grimsley HS coach) said after the Rams moved to 22-2 overall. “A couple times in that game we could have put our heads down.”

Ragsdale 75, Trinity 73 in Double OT for the Mid-Piedmont 3-A Boys Championship:
from the Asheboro Courier-Tribune:
ASHEBORO — Ragsdale(25-1) may have thumped Trinity by 24 points the second time the teams met in the regular season, completing a Mid-Piedmont Conference sweep.

Still, Thursday was a challenge. Not only were the Tigers looking for their third straight over the Bulldogs, but they also were hoping to take home the league tournament crown. Not to mention playing a Trinity team that has dogged determination.

In the end, Jay Canty made a layup as time expired, giving top-seeded Ragsdale a 72-71 double-overtime win over No. 2 Trinity at Asheboro High School.

“It was a good basketball game,” Tigers coach Craig Shoemaker said. “It was indicative of the rivalry we have. We’ve had so many great games the past two or three years. It’s a shame someone had to lose. Trinity came ready to play tonight.”

Mid-Piedmont 3-A Girls Championship:
In the girls final, the top-seeded Tigers completed the MPC title sweep, topping No. 2 Southeast Guilford 58-34.

Dorian McInnis led Ragsdale with 28 points, including the first 12 points for the Tigers, while Courtney Arrington added 10.

For SEG, Paris Alston had 11 points with Brittany Price chipping in eight.
