McLEANSVILLE – The girls’ championship game for the Triad 3-A Conference Tournament may be scheduled for tonight, but Thursday night’s semifinal game had the look of a championship game.

Rockingham County’s Kylie Keck hit a three-pointer with 40 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime and in the extra session the Lady Cougars outscored Northern Guilford 9-5 for a 63-59 victory at Northeast Guilford High School.

“I told Kylie, and I don’t mean this in a negative way, but she didn’t shoot the ball well, but shooters shoot,” said Rockingham County head coach Woody Wall.

With the win, the Lady Cougars (22-4) now face top-seeded Greensboro Dudley in tonight’s championship game.

  1. Wondering why Bishop McGuinness boys coach only writes in updates when they win? Saw they blew the conference tourney title last night to Mt. Airy. Everybody said they were overrated and played the weakest schedule around, guess it caught up with them.
