Duke wins on Women’s Wednesday in the ACC

Duke Routs Wake Forest, 83-50

Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie wasn’t interested in the final margin against Wake Forest. She was more interested about where the points came from.

Jasmine Thomas scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures as the 10th-ranked Blue Devils raced past the cold-shooting Demon Deacons 83-50 on Wednesday night.

Chante Black added 15 points, Joy Cheek 12 and Abby Waner 11 for Duke (23-4, 10-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), which led by as many as 35 points in extending its winning streak over Wake Forest to 32 straight.

Black, who also had 11 rebounds, moved into 10th place on Duke’s all-time scoring list with 1,379 points, and into second in career rebounds with 950. She passed Jennifer Scanlon, who had 1,377 career points, and Iciss Tillis, who had 947 rebounds.

Secily Ray had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Alex Tchangoue added 13 points and 10 boards for the Demon Deacons (18-9, 5-8), who shot just 27 percent from the field (17 of 63) and was outrebounded 48-39.
