Hoppers introduce new skipper Darin Everson

The Greensboro Grasshoppers introduced their new manager this morning at 10 a.m. during a press conference inside the gift shop at NewBridge Bank Park.(He’s not for sale, he’ll be working for the Hoppers this spring/summer.)

Everson joins the Grasshoppers for his first season after two seasons as te field manager with the Jamestown Jammers. While in the New York-Penn League he compiled a 47-29 record in 2008 and a 28-47 mark in 2007. His professional coaching debut came in 2006 as the hitting coach for the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Everson said there’s a good chance that Jeremy Synan, out of Norhtheast Guilford and N.C. State Univeristy, could be here with the Hoppers at the start of the season. Synan would be positioned in left field.

Synan previously worked with assistant GM Jake Holloway and the Hoopers in the off-season at NewBridge Bank Park and he would be a welcomed addition to the local baseball scene.

There’s also a chance that the Florida Marlins top-pick from last years draft, catcher Kyle Skipworth; could be here in Greensboro this season.
