  1. Page played tough but the 3 guards for Mt Tabor are really good! They forced many turnovers and rushed shots that Page normally makes. Also, Page had a tough time getting the balls into Julius Brooks. If he had gotten more touches, especially the first half where I dont think he scored, Page would have probably pulled it out. Hard fought game by both teams.

  2. It is going to be a fun week in Greenville, NC for me and my sons. My oldest two attend Northern Guilford and I graduated from Dudley. They went to Dudley games throughout their childhood but now their team is Northern. Regardless of how it goes down there, hopefully Dudley pulls out a win against Kinston and/or Northern. Either way, one of those teams should represent the East in the state championship.

    Dudley has won the sectionals: 99-00*, 00-01, 01-02, 02-03, 03-04*, 04-05*, 05-06*, 06-07, 07-08. 08-09.

    State Champions: 95-96 (4A), runner-up 99-00 (3A), runner-up 03-04( 3A), back to back champions 04-05, 05-06 (3A).

  3. Lets not forget the statae titles won back in ’59 and ’61 back when segregation was a way of life in North Carolina. Dudley in a class of its own!!

  4. The Lady Panthers are on a roll and I pity the fool that tries to stop them! They’ve been to the regionals 3 years an a row and this will be their 4th. Congratulations on a GREAT season and let’s finish the job and bring home a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! Helen, Breonna, Porsha, Desiree, Jessica, Chell, Ebona, Kay Kay, Iesha, Khadejah, Lauryn and my girl on injured reserve Kiera let’s finish this thing once and for all and take your places in the history book. And last but not least Coach Britton, Coach Jenkins, and Coach McNeil, you guys are the greatest and without your patience, guidance, caring, tough love, coaching abilities, and maturity these ladies wouldn’t be in the position that they are. Thank you so much for your dedication. Greenville here we come and WE ARE FOR REAL!

  5. Congrats to the Spartans of Mount Tabor High.

Nice season for the Pirates. You guys played with heart. Congrats on a successful season, in my eyes.

Mount Tabor came out in the first quarter very hot from 3. Josh Hicks hit some big time 3 point baskets. Page kept it close though staying within 5 at the end of the 1st quarter. Tabor would stretch that lead to 8 at the end of the 1st half.

Page’s coach Robert Kent made a half time adjustment and played man-to-man on defense which really shut down the Spartan attack. Holding Tabor to only 6 points in the 3rd quarter. Page was knocking on the doorstep at this point in the game.

The fourth quarter was and up and down track meet. Both teams drove hard to the basket relentlessly. Page found themselves down by 9 late in the game, and repeatedly put Tabor on the FT line. The Spartans would miss some FTs, giving the Pirates a last glimmer of hope. Mitch Oates sank some long distance 3’s to try and win it, but it was a lead too large to overcome.

I think, If Julius Brooks would have been more dominate down in the post, this would have been a different outcome. Instead of him getting his usual 15 pts/15 boards, we played more into Mt. Tabors style of play, which is running guards all night. (Not that Page couldn’t do that — but its tough to stop three D1 signee guards).

All in all, great game from both teams. It would have been something else to knock the Spartans off, and being able to say Page was your only 2 losses this year.

  6. I really wanted Page to win their game. Teams from “central” Greensboro had the hardest brackets in the tournament. Ragsdale was given an easy walk but could not finish off their competition. I am pleased that Greensboro Day lost their game too. The funny thing, Northern Guilford stole one from Northern Vance. Backcourt violation called with 2.5 seconds is absolutely terrible.

  7. Looks like Dudley outlasts everyone around Greensboro once again………who cares if we don’t ever play in the PHI-Little Four again………..LOL!!
