  1. Dudley 89

    South Central 72

Dudley will head to Reynolds Coliseum to face forestview

  2. Dudley Lady Panthers did their thing at JH Rose High and put an end to mediocrisy in the Eastern Regionals. They blew out the number one seeded team in the Eastern Region. Good job Lady Panthers. Let’s go and kick some Forestview butt.

  3. It is great to see that the Nighthawks made it to the championship game. As a bonus, we get to see the Lady Panther’s play at Reynolds coliseum. It will be a great afternoon of basketball. I think it is safe to say that the best boy’s team and the best girl’s team in the Triad 3a conference have proved how good they both are. Let’s sweep the championship!

  4. I hope karma comes back and bites northern guilford stright in the ass just like it did to those cheating NE Patriots. This school hasn’t even been open 2 yrs and they are already playing for a state title with other schools’ players. Bartlett-Yancey could have really benefitted from Jacob Lawson’s abilities but someone or a group of people with very deep pockets came in and stole him. What a farce. Personally, I will be pulling for the other team to go in and beat their asses in the state title game.

  5. Congratulations to the DUDLEY LADY PANTHERS & Northern Guilford Nighthawks! You both Represented the ares Well. I’m Sure you both will bring home the TITLE.

    Bucs,

you have pretty strong feelings about the Northern Boy’s program. I’m not a Northern fan either, but I can wish the kids from the area well and hope they are successful. A lot of what happens to the kid’s is not alway’s their doing. It’s adults who have motives for their our personal gain. I understand that some kids have those dreams of that million dollar payday, But at this level that’s still a dream and so far fetched for most kids. Let the Lawson’s and the Northern Supporters have their moment in the Sun, and thing s will work out for the one’s who have been slighted by the wrong doing of the others. After all, a free education for a kid who may not have the opportunity to get one may be the most gained by the kid Himself !

  6. When I first opened this i thought I had clicked on the wrong one because the first few posts were about the Dudley girls.

Congrats to the boys out at northern. I tend to agree that we should congratulate them and let these boys enjoy the moment. Anything else sorts itself out. Northern beat a very talented Kinston team. Quite an achievement.

  7. Northern Guilford’s basketball team is a bought and paid for team. Although I am rooting for them, several of their key players do not live in the district. I take my hat off to Stan Kowaleski because he played a box and 1 defense. When they were trailing, he knew how to stop that bum Reggie Bullock. Dudley’s coaching staff went to a 2-3 ZOne and he shot over Brennan Wyatt.

Congratulations again to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks.

  8. Congrats goes to the Nighthawks. I’ve seen them play all year and no money bought the hard work they put in day in and day out. If I had the talent as Lawson I too would want the best opportunity possible to showcase it. It is a well deserved title guys. Holdn up my cup and telling the haters to drink up the haterade. See yall March 14th!!

  9. So What Dudley has had key players that don’t live in there district both in football and basketball. It amazes me when Dudley takes a lose that it’s always the refs fault and not that the other team was better. When NG beat yall twice it was the refs who let the game get out of hand. Now it’s the refs that didn’t call a fair game friday against
kinston. This is so funny to me to knock NG and a very good season they had.

  10. So What

Seems like you are just like some of the parents and kids of NG willing to sale their sole and be pimped to play at NG. I’m not a fan of either Dudley or NG but you have to call a spade a spade NG has a bought team. Parents pimped their kids to NG. Yes every school in the city has a kid or two not in the district but NG has a entire team they went out and recruited. SO What tell me how else does a school not even two years open go from new school to title game?
If your good it does no matter the school you play at recruits will find you!
Why would McCain leave tbe tradition of Page for NG? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
How does Wallace go from Yadkin County to NG? His daddy become the highest paid janitor in Guilford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does Frye leave Ragsdale?? So what do your research
For anyone to say these kids came to NG for a better education needs to stop living a lie! It’s hard to respect a team like NG that is a store bought team!

  11. Because Dudley is one of the best schools in the State certain details are over looked. To whom much is givin much is required! One paid that cannot be argued is that Dudley is an underfunded school when it comes to receiving money, supplies, books, facilities etc. Despite all of this Dudley kids have still excelled in the classroom and in sports. Just look at the number of kids Dudley send to college every year. NG seems to be a place just concerned about sports and not the welfare of the kids after they leave NG. I guess i say all of this to say that if NG had the same financial restraints that Dudley have they would not be competitive in sports or in the class room.

  12. Jk, and Triad fan,

First please have your info correct Mccain was at Page but he was suppose to be at Eastern Guilford but his parents brought a house in the Northern district, Second Wallace father is not the janitor that would be Lawson’s father, third Frye’ s parent brought a half million dollar house in the Northern District. And how do you know if Northern only cares about sports, they have not had a Sr. class yet. Could it just be the parents may feel that Northern is the best place for them. Andy didn’t say a thing about Hayes transfering from Grimsley to Dudley last week 6’1 240lbs DE. It just amazing to see how everyone is talking so bad about Northern. Half of the kids on Dudley”s football team and two of the key basketball players live in the Smith District but are in the Academy. Leave the kids alone let them enjoy what they have done. Go Heels

  13. Who cares???? I am a dudley graduate, fan and I played bball there. Every school in the state has had players from other districts. It still doesnt guarantee that you will win. Northern has accomplished a lot in there short history. Stop hating!!!!! Gracious!! How does anyone know that they paid for players? Do you have bank statements, check stubs etc??? Stop hating!!! Furthermore if a family feel its in their best interest to attend another school to have a brighter future, then so be it. Mind your own business!! Why would McCain leave Page with all the tradition?? Page hasnt done anything in basketball since when Mac Morris left! They have had some talented players but havent achieved anything. I bet the main people talking bad about Northern havent played or coached bball anywhere. I know one of the main people talking bad about Northern on this site didnt! LoL Northern beat Dudley twice, no excuses. I apologize to the Northern fans and to the rest of the sports lovers, for some of the comments that “so called” Dudley fans have made.

Congrats to Northern on a great season and bring home the championship! It doesnt mean a thing, if you dont get the ring!

  14. tarheelfan, McCain parents are not exactly buying a house in Northern district so you may want to check your facts. I did not read where JK and triad fan every said McCain lived in Page district it was stated he attended Page not lived in Page district. You guys can say what you want but the fact remains that NG team was recruited from schools across the county. Come on one guys be real a new school goes up and all of a sudden folks are moving to NG district. Correct about Lawson the names were just mixed up but the fact remains his father still got broke off with money. I remember back in the day when Dudley played Page and Grimsley in football and Dudley handled both schools some pretty good spankings and I believe it was the next year the school system realigned the school zone which resulted in kids from the Grove who were less than a quarter of mile from Dudley being bussed way over to Page. Next thing you know Page becomes a powerhouse.
Who cares yes I played at Dudley three year starter in football, four years on the track team. Who cares I really want to call out my sources that I get my info from but I want. But the source comes from NG. DHS class of 71

  15. Everyone has kids from out of district but Dudley is the last one that should be complaining about this. Let’em play and wish them well.

  16. Funny I know of one Dudley basketball player that lives in the NG district but he attends Dudley. Hmmm hint: he’s a post player. So please let’s not throw stones unless we know for sure we are not living in glass houses. The entire NG team does not live out of district. I have some players as neighbors and been to some players houses. And NG does have good academics. My child alone went from a 2.0 to a 4.0 with all honors classes. And previous schools attended…Dudley. Let’s not knock the school academics just because the sports program is excelling. And before anybody jumps on me, my child does not play any sports @ NG. Good luck to the Nighthawks in their route to their first state championship!

  17. Good luck to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks. A job well done this year. I am a Dudley fanatic and I am in agreement with most Panther fans. However, we can not and we should stop crying over spilled milk. I vented about the game I saw Friday night. Dudley played hard and although the referees did not call the best game, leadership/coaching hindered Dudley from winning. Northern’s coach called the defense I was yelling from the sidelines, a Box and 1. Bullock only scored 9 points and shot 1-12 from the 3pt line. Coach Price’s better days are behind him. Dudley needs a coach with innovation. Northern’s coach is innovative and he has plays that get the ball into the hands of the best player when needed. PJ Hairston bringing the ball up court with 8.9 seconds was ridiculous.

Northern has built a power in the 3A football and basketball and I am sending my children there to continue their excellence. My child went from a predominantly black school (did not perform well) and then transferred to Northern (he is taking AP courses next year).

    Go Nighthawks!!!

  18. This all started with a comment about Lawson should be at BY, by a BY fan. Why is this all of a sudden becoming a NG and Dudley dispute. Most of the guys on both teams play AAU together and are great friends.

This has nothing to do with any of them it is you grown folk.

    GO GREENSBORO!

  19. all I can ask is where are all the people that didn’t think McCain was a difference-maker in basketball? Think things would have played out differently if he hadn’t left Page? Some said it wasn’t a big deal before…..

  20. I wouldn’t consider playing teams with a combined record of something like 25 wins to 100 losses in football as being a power house quite yet. Lets just wait and see before you make a statement like that. I know you are excited with all the hype and all…. Let’s just hope the system keeps working in you guys favor or lack there of.

  21. I am a friend and a neighbor of the McCain’s. I know personally that Mr. McCain works anywhere from 50 to 60 hours a week. If he got paid for his son going to northern why would he work so hard, instead of using some of the so called recruit money that some people say he got.

As for the tradition at page it is long gone. Thats why you have parents going to the school to monitor lunch period to prevent gang fights. When I was a student at page and a parent came to the school it was to check on there kids, not to prevent other kids from fighting. I know tradition goes along way but this is not the same page high school I attended.

Sorry Mr. McCain I had to defend your honor. Neighbor

  22. I’m a Parent of High School Football Player and I have been resisting the urge to comment on this subject. Fact, one thing for sure is that McCain’s son worked out with Page Football team all last summer. McCain attended one official practice and then made a decision to enroll and Northern later that day. Coaches and Players started hearing the rumors that McCain had indeed switched schools. I don’t have a problem with a kid switching schools but it is way you go about handling your business. As a fellow Parent I feel like McCain should have sat down face to face with the Coaches over here at Page to inform them of his decision. They way it went down really left a bitter taste. I was told that McCain made the decision based on academics and I can’t blame a parent for wanting what is best for his or her child. But with that being said from what I’m hearing the kid’s grade are no better at Northern than they were at Page! My question is when does the reasonability falls on the child to perform in the classroom? Again I really did not want to comment on this situation because I do want to seem like I’m attacking this kid because the kids are innocent in all of this.

  23. If these same kids transfered anywhere else in Guilford County,it wouldn’t be a problem. Stop pointing fingers ever school has transfers. NG was the better team this year point blank.

  24. I thought this was supposed to be about the fantastic job the kids did at the tournament this weekend! How did the McCain kid become the focus of this conversation?! Why does anyone care so much about where McCain or any of these other kids live, anyway? Whether or not you think the situation at Page was handled correctly, unless you were there to witness what happened on BOTH sides FIRST HAND you can’t possibly know all the facts. So often these discussions become less about a team’s accomplishments and more about where a few of them are living.

Constantly singling out a few kids by name but speaking about other kids in general terms is really unfortunate. Kids transfer all the time. I’m sure that if you look deep enough, you will probably find SEVERAL schools with skeletons in their closets as it relates to kids transferring in-not just the same ones we keep hearing about. Unless you are prepared to go back DECADES and research EVERY transfer, leave these kids alone!

I shudder to think how these kids would feel if they were to read the things that some people are saying about them! Let’s not forget that no matter how strong and capable these kids are on the field or on the court, they are still someone’s children. They are still minors with PARENTS who ultimately make the decision about where they live and attend school.

At the end of the day, there’s a real chance the Women’s and Men’s State 3A Championship trophies are on their way to Greensboro, NC. That’s what the focus should be- supporting BOTH Greensboro teams.

    Go PANTHERS! Go NIGHTHAWKS!

  25. Page Parent,

Page Parent that is so far from the truth, Chris and his father set down and told Coach G in the summer why he was leaving. I know because I was a coach at Page at the time. We wanted Chris to stay but his father said that Chris was so far behind on his school work this was the best thing for him. Also I know for a fact that he is doing very well in his school work. So dont say things that are not true or you dont have all the facts. Go Heels

  26. Congrats to the lady the Panthers and Nighthawks. When I attended from Dudley from 91 to 95 we always had kids that transfered to other schools as well as we had kids that transferred in from other schools. I mean it happens it never stopped us from being succesful. Also I happen to be friends with McCain’s and it is pretty bad that they are catching so much heat on this board. All i can say is wow.

Congrats to the Dudley Men’s basketball for another outstanding season!!!

  27. Parents going over to Page at lunch period to prevent gang fights? That is the biggest crock of crap I have ever heard. Do you write for the Rhino Times as well? This shouldn’t be a McCain thread. I have heard nothing but good things said about the kid from folks over there. Obviously they wish he was still a Pirate, but why wouldn’t they. The football team would have a big weapon and the basketball team would be playing this saturday in Chapel Hill and NG probably wouldn’t be. He is was the difference-maker for them and they openly said so. Ironically eough he was the 1 player NG didn’t have and now they do and now they are playing for a state title. Good luck to Christian and NG this weekend.

  28. Joe Yeagar:Principal, Darrell Force:AD, and Johnny Roscoe:football coach are the people that had to make sure it was right for Christian McCain to get in at Northern.

If you have any beef it should be with them and not with the kid McCain. The kid just wants to play ball and he’s looking to receive a football scholarship. He is definitely helping the Nighthawk basketball team, but his future is in football.

Get off of the kid’s case and let him play. Give this young man a chance and he may help make the entire county proud.

  29. Parents have been moving forever because of wanting their kids to be in a different school district, for any # of reasons. I know we moved years ago partially because of the schools for our kids. Good academics, sports, parental / community support, facilities, etc at a school would appeal to most parents…just read the real estate ads, good schools are often mentioned.

Obviously Northern is recognised by some parents as a good opportunity and they have taken the steps necessary to get their kids into Northern. How is that different from (anybody) moving years ago because of the schools? Are you haters saying certain kids have no right to attend Northern because they aren’t “from there”? If they meet attendance requirements they belong AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER !!

  30. Tarheel if you were a coach and admit to being a coach then please tell us your name. You’re right they did tell Coach G those things……. the day they were leaving right after coming back from an AAU basketball trip with you know who. Other than that the coaches or players new nothing of him leaving until he was gone.

  31. Oh and by the way, he was a little behind on his classes. Whose fault is that? Another thing is he could have stayed at Page and still have gotten caught up. Again, THE PROBLEM IS NOT KIDS TRANSFERRING. THE PROBLEM IS with coaches recruiting kids and the parents pimping their kids out. I don’t believe money has traded hands but I do know coaches in Guiford county go after other schools players via AAU or through players who are friends.

  32. IFFFFF,

Why do I need to post my name if you are not willing to posted your own. The bottom line is I have moved on to coach some where else and that is all that matters. The last time I checked the only person he had to let know what he was doing was Coach G, and believe me did do that. Just leave the kid alone his parents has the right to do what they had to do. Page was not crying when Kent talked him into leaving Eastern Guilford to come to Page, now you all want to cry. I saw alot of dirty thing that Page do and how they treat their players, so I of all people understand why they have lost some players. GO Heels

Northern coach files defamation suitThursday, September 18, 2008 ( updated 4:04 pm)
    By Tom Keller
    Staff Writer

Frustrated by what he called “very petty” accusations of illegal recruiting, Northern Guilford basketball coach Stan Kowalewski has filed a defamation lawsuit against Northwest Guilford athletics director John Hughes.

Kowalewski accuses Hughes of starting “a public relations campaign designed to defame (Kowalewski) and to cast doubt as to the legitimacy and integrity of the Northern Guilford boys basketball program.”

“I felt like I had no other choice,” said Kowalewski, who was cleared of wrongdoing after an investigation by the school district, his athletics director said.

Hughes declined to comment. His attorney, Amiel Rossabi, said Hughes “was clearly just doing his job” and “has done nothing wrong, legally or morally.”

The suit was filed Sept. 8 in Guilford County Superior Court. Hughes has 30 days to respond and can file for a 30-day extension. Kowalewski is asking for punitive damages of more than $10,000 for “mental pain and suffering, humiliation, embarrassment, and injury to his reputation.”

The spat started late last year after Hughes sent an e-mail to Northwest principal Angelo Kidd expressing concern about the influx of players to Northern, which played its first season of varsity sports last year. Specifically, Rossabi said, Hughes mentioned a rumor that the father of a player on Northern’s basketball team was given a custodial job at the school so his son could play there.

“Given the facts as we know it, it was the right thing (for Hughes) to do,” Rossabi said.

Kowalewski alleges Hughes also accused him in the e-mail of:

    • providing housing and transportation to certain students and their families.

    • improperly providing and paying for locker room amenities, out-of-state trips, meals, airfare and other items.

    • enrolling students in Northern Guilford who did not live in the attendance zone.

    Kowalewski denies the accusations.

Kidd forwarded Hughes’ e-mail to officials with the school district, Rossabi said. Kidd declined to comment.

Around that time, the district initiated an investigation of Northern. Athletics director Derrell Force said Wednesday he couldn’t remember whether the investigation occurred before or after Hughes’ e-mail. Force said Herb Goins, then the county athletics director, and Carla Alphin, a human resource administrator for the system, came to the school and talked with him, Kowalewski and other school officials.

“They could find nothing Stan had done that was illegal,” Force said.

Goins did not return a phone call at his home. Alphin declined to comment, citing personnel issues.

Kowalewski alleges Hughes “continued to make and publish false and defamatory statements” about him following the investigation. He said that caused “bitterness toward our program” and that it was “time to take a stand.”

“My school and my administration are tired of people making allegations they can’t back up,” Kowalewski said.

Kowalewski joined Northern Guilford in 2007 after spending the previous season at High Point Central. He was fired as head coach of Bishop McGuinness in 2004, a decision he contested for months with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte.

He alleges part of the reason Hughes defamed him was “as a result of the success enjoyed” by the Northern basketball team last season, including two wins over Northwest in two meetings.

“That has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard,” Rossabi said. “It was not anything personal.”

Kowalewski said Hughes is not the only athletic official in the area to publicly question Northern’s legitimacy, and he hopes this suit will deter such talk in the future.

“If there’s no consequence,” Kowalewski said, “we keep spinning our wheels, keep getting distracted and our reputation keeps getting damaged.

“We felt like it was the only way to get their attention.”

  34. It’s never a problem when kids tranfer to other schools. Grimsley lost a 6″2 245 pound DE to Dudley last week. I haven’t heard anyone crying about that. Why because he didn’t transfer to NG. When a new team comes along and beat a team that’s use to being on top people will hate. Good luck NG bring back some hardwear to Guilford County.

  35. I heard about this school on NCPreps

I guess Northern Guilford will now become the Independence of NC high school basketball and win 7 straight state titles…………what a JOKE!!!

  36. Attention Mature Adults… friends, fans from ALL area High Schools in Guilford County.

Everyone’s had their say (Smith, Page, Dudley and Northern). Even though I didn’t mention your favorite High School, I’m talking about you too. Even though your child doesn’t attend either Dudley or Northern, you had someting to say.

Come on people… LET IT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!ALREADY.

KIDS ARE KIDS… THEY JUST WANT TO PLAY. MOST KIDS GET THEIR INFLUENCE FROM AN ADULT PARENT OR MENTOR. THE DEED HAD BEEN DONE!!! MOST OF THESE KIDS ARE BUDDIES AND HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. LET’S NOT TEACH THEM TO HATE… CONTINUE TO SUPPORT AND PULL FOR EACH OTHER.

SOME OF YOU HAVE DONE IT ALL (SCHOOL BALL AND AAU). BUT REMEMBER THIS…YOU WILL SURELY RUN INTO EACH OTHER AGAIN. DON’T LET THIS BE YOUR ONLY MEMORY OF OTHER FINE ATHLETES AND FRIEND… FROM THE AREA.
” WE ARE STILL ONE COMMUNITY …NO MATTER WHAT “.

PLAYERS AT DUDLEY, NORTHERN AND PAGE, GREAT JOB, WE LOVE SEEING ALL OF YOU PLAY. EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU HAVE TALENT. ALWAYS BE TRUE TO YOURSELF. MAKE GOOD CHOICES…

LET’S GET READY FOR NEXT YEAR!

    P.S.
PARENT’S I’LL LET YOU ALL OFF THE HOOK TOO… WE ALL DO WHAT EVERY IT TAKES TO MAKE OUR KIDS LIFE BETTER. WE HAVE ALL LISTENED TO EVERY TYPE OF SPILL FROM COACHES,TRAINERS AND TEACHERS ALIKE THAT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT’S BEST OR COULD BE BETTER FOR OUR GIFTED AND TALENTED YOUNG PEOPLE. THEY ALL PROMISE THAT THEY ARE THE ONE THAT WILL OPEN DOORS THAT NO ONE ELSE CAN OPEN. IT’S OK! WHAT EVER CHANGE WAS MADE WAS MADE, WE HOPE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD AND NOT THE $$$$$$$.

    PLAY ON… DUDLEY AND NORTHERN

  37. was there seriously a poster on here that said Kent recruited McCain to Page from Eastern Guilford? That might be the most outrageous thing I have ever read. You obviously don’t know Robert Kent. Tarheels, if you were a coach at Page at the time it isn’t hard to see why you aren’t anymore.

  38. I AGREE WITH THE POST BY JOHN P. …LET IT GO.

BUT I DO WANT TO ADD ONE THING. I DO NOT HAVE A SON THAT PLAYS FOR NORTHERN. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH THREE DAUGHTERS. IN JUNE OF 2008 I BOUGHT A HOUSE IN THE NORTHERN DEISTRICT SPECIFICALLY SO MY DAUGHTERS COULD ATTEND NORTHERN MIDDLE AND NORTHERN HIGH. i WOULD WORK TEN JOBS TO JKEEP MY GIRLS IN THIS DISTRICT IF I HAD TO. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE I MOVED. I WAS NOT WILLING TO BUY A HOUSE ANYWHERE BUT IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT BECAUSE THEY OFFER THE BEST PUBLIC EDUCATION IN GUILFORD COUNTY. MY DAUGHTERS HAVE THRIVED AT NORTHERN.

OKAY, I KNOW THIS IS ABOUT SPORTS BUT MY POINT IS THERE IS A REASON OUTSIDE OF SPORTS FOR A PARENT TO WANT HIS OR HER CHILD TO ATTEND NORTHERN. UNFORTUNATELY ALL THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN GUILFORD COUNTY DO HAVE THE SAME RESOURCES AND THERE IS NOT AN EQUAL EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE. THERE SHOULD BE, BUT THERE ISN’T.

THE BOYS AT NORTHEN HAVE WORKED HARD THIS YEAR TO GET WHERE THEY ARE, PLAYING FOR THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP,. I DON’T CARE WHERE THEY CAME FROM!! THEY PLAYED THE GAMES AND THEY WON. LET THEM HAVE THEIR TIME, JUST LIKE YOU WOULD WANT TO HAVE YOURS IF IT WAS YOUR TEAM PLAYING FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

AND MAYBE WE SHOULD WORK ON INSISTING ON EQUAL EDUCATION FOR ALL OUR KIDS BECAUSE THE REALITY IS, VERY FEW OF THESE KIDS WILL HAVE BASKETBALL AS A LIFETIME CAREER.

  39. Tarheels,

If my sources (actual football players) are correct, and if indeed you are this coach, then you would have been the reason that the players were mistreated (i.e. cussing at players and other things)…In fact, mistreating players was the reason you were let go…If I’m not mistaken you were let go in the middle of the season; therefore, this corresponds to the better record after you had left…Hopefully, you do well where ever else you have went, but if you continue to mistreat players on the team, then I doubt you will ever develop the relationships that you need with players…Sure, not all kids will like the coaches at Page, but the kids that I talk to and who are currently on the team enjoyed the coaching staff…They said that the coaching staff had high expectations and demanded it of them, but they were never mistreated…In fact, after you had left, they felt the atmosphere was less threatening…So, don’t make false accusations to make a program look bad…By the way, this isn’t street football, so you didn’t have to treat the players like you did…

  40. What about Single Mothers and Fathers who do not have the resources to pick up and move so their kids can receive a better education? Public schools are supposed to offer equal education regardless on your economic status or what neighborhood you live in. I know you stated we should insist equal resources and opportunity for all kids but what do we do in the mean time? Or in your case what do we do about the kids who may not have athletic talented but may be blessed with academic talents? Not saying that your kids are not athletic. I graduated from high school 14 years ago and college 10 years ago. The high school I attended in Guilford County was very much underfounded and still is. I don’t want to cry over spilled milk because despite that I have still managed to become quite succesful but I will never forget my early years and I just want things better for the kids who are coming up behind me!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. Posted by a mom who loves her kid , my comments are not directed at you! 🙂 I was just thinking out loud!

  42. Guilford County Offers a lot of magnet programs. They will pick your child up and bring them home. If parents would like to do the research they can visit the Guilford County School Web Site. It will give the information and parents can start making calls. There is no reason for a child to have to stay at a school that does not fit for any reason. Parents just have to be willing to do the work to get their child moved. Guilford College, Greensboro College and A&T all have programs connected to Guilford county schools. Money and moving are not an issue. Parents being involved is the key. Hope this information helps !!

  43. The Northern Guilford Nighthawks should seriously consider changing their name to the Northern Guilford Cheetahs and hire the law firm of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe to represent them in future scandals.
