Ethan Ogburn pitched a complete game 3 hitter, allowing only 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking only 2. The Cowboys scored two runs in the 2nd when Davis Inman roped a single to right center to score Ethan Ogburn (two hits), and Will Kellam (two hits).
in the top of the 3rd Southwest put the game away when Cal Sutphin, Ethan Ogburn, and Will Kellam hit back to back to back doubles, followed by another Rbi single by Brock Hudgens. Andrew Pate also added a single on the night.

The Cowboys played great defense recording 15 outs in the infield with no errors. Wednesday if rain holds off Cowboys will play at home at 7 against Wester Guilford.

Note – Parkland is led at the plate by Seth Mahaffey, he was 1-2 on the night and collected the only RBI for the Mustangs. Seth is an 2009 Graduate who had some injury problems last season but he is now healthy and ready for a big senior season. Any colleges that have a spot for a 2009 would be lucky to land Seth, he can play any infield position and also will be back on the mound soon for Parkland. Seth is a D1 hitter – watch out for him this spring!!!!

  2. Well it looks like The coach of Page can not beat Grimsley no matter who is coaching the team. The way he can beat Grimsley if he was the coach OH thats right he was the coach at one time but got fired. Its good to see that Grimsley hire a good coach after they let one go in Coach Ash. Well good luck to both team on there season.

  3. Ok, i am a local here in Guilford County, Is Northern Guilford that good or are they just facing the worst teams pitching? I see all the time that they are winning and i was just wondering can anyone comment on this topic? Andy have you seen Northern Guilford play any this year and what is your take on it?

  4. Northern is a solid team, Ive seen them twice, what I noticed is they don’t make a lot of mistakes

  5. Tyler Burchette is supposed to the Ace for Rockingham County and not sure if Northern faced him. Northern is in a way kind of like what The Watcher was saying. They are a bend but don’t break team.

They are probably still 1-2 years away from making a major run, but I can tell you that George Carter and the Wells brothers are the real deal. Carter has an outside shot to make it from high school to the pros, he is that good and he has the tools to advance in more than one way, and by being a lefty as a pitcher and having a strong bat, pro scouts are already watching George Carter this year.

I have been impressed with the Andrew Strubinger kid and like many of the NG kids he is big. About half of their kids are big Country-type kids and the other half are small like me and the guy in the Burger King commercial.

They will get better because they are young and they will not be seeing the opposing teams #3 and 4 pitchers like they did last year.

We have some talented kids in the County. George Carter, Josh Tobias, Ray Crawford, Macon Smith, Nick McBride, Brock Hudgens, Robbie McIntosh just to name a few……There are bunch out there and I’m sure we will be talking a bunch about them.

  6. Great game last night Northern. Great defense. You all scored when you had to.
Rockingham is a great team. Congrats Nighthawks!

  7. Northern saw unc signee bryan mitchell at rockingham yesterday. there were numerous pro scouts in attendance.

  8. Western Guilford played a very solid game behind the pitching of Mark leake, and an offense that has been clicking for the past two days. There were actually two home runs hit during the game. Of course Macon’s home run will over shadow others performances, but he deserves every bit of attention that he is receiving. He is dedicated and works hard on and off the field and, I would know. Turkson has also been on a tear as of late hitting three home runs in three games, and Jones and Marrero have been hitting the ball solid as well. Adam Causey has not been getting any breaks, he has been hitting the ball solid, but not falling. Western has been rolling and when they can get the pieces in the right places, they will be a very tough team to play.

P.S. Macon has 5 home runs, but hey whose counting haha

  9. Unrecognized- i thought the smiths agreed to let someone else toot macon’s horn, he is too good to have relatives sing his praise

  10. hey daddyballers, there’s only one Smith that’s ever posted here and that’s me…and under the same name every time, but not once about Macon since I took your suggestion.

If you’ll slow down from trying to diminish his points and read his post, I’m pretty sure you’ll see that Unrecognized is likely either a teammate or someone who would like to see Joe Turkson and some other members of Western’s team get credit for what they’ve done, rather than somebody trying to get Macon more credit. As Unrecognized says, Joe has been raking lately and should be recognized for it.

Since you like holding everybody else accountable, I just thought I’d return the favor.
