1. Ricky Steamboat was most certainly not in the very first match at Wrestlemania.

2. He was in the very first Wrestlemania Michael.

   In 1985, Steamboat was offered a contract by Vince McMahon and he joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Shortly after his debut, Steamboat was given the gimmick of a babyface nicknamed “The Dragon”; Steamboat’s jacket-and-trunks attire was replaced by a keikogi and long tights. His father was white, and Steamboat’s mother is Japanese American, hence his Asian features which were crucial for his “Dragon” gimmick. Steamboat kept the nickname and gimmick for the remainder of his career.

   He made his pay-per-view debut at the inaugural WrestleMania where he defeated Matt Borne.

3. No, Michael is right and I was wrong. Rick Steamboat didn’t wrestle in the first match on Wrestlemania, Tito Santana and a masked Buddy Rose did. Steamboat wrestled Borne later in the show.

4. For Ricky Steamboat, not in the very first match, but in the very first Wrestlemania.

   The Tito Santana-Buddy Rose match for First-Ever would make a great trivia question.

   I wonder if Johnny Fairplay could handle that one?
