A very Dull moment in the Big South Conference

Ryan Dull(East Forsyth High School) Named Big South Pitcher of the Week

*****We have been looking for more news on how our local kids are doing on the college level and here’s a real good report on Ryan Dull, just one year removed from East Forsyth HS in Kernersvlle. Check out the numbers, three straight 9-inning complete games? Nearly unbelievable in college. Amazing numbers!*****

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Winthrop junior Matt Thielepape (Austin, Texas) and UNC Asheville freshman Ryan Dull (Winston-Salem, N.C.) have been named the Choice Hotels Player of the Week and New Balance Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played April 6-12, it was announced today by the League office.

Dull picked up his third Big South victory of the year as he threw his third-straight complete game against then League-leading Liberty on Saturday. He went the full nine innings and allowed two earned runs and scattered 10 hits. He walked one and struck out three Flames in winning, 9-2. All three of his complete games have come against Big South foes and he is 3-3 against Big South opponents this season. Dull is second Bulldog pitcher to earn the award this season joining Michael Bogaert who earned the honor on March 2.

Dull’s became the first UNC Asheville pitcher to throw three consecutive complete games since Marc Rosenbalm in 1991. He is the first Asheville player to ever throw three straight nine inning complete games. Dull leads the Bulldogs in ERA with a 3.83 mark which is 10th in the Big South. He is trying to become the first freshman starter to lead the team in ERA since David Williams in 2004.

*****We will have more coming in on the colleges in the next few days.*****
