Western Alamance 5
Western Guilford 4 (9 innings)

Southwest Guilford 13
Reagan 3

Southwest avenged an earlier conference loss to Reagan by pounding out 14 hits to move into 2nd place in the conference setting up another big showdown with conference lead Glenn next week.

With Southwest trailing 2-0 in the 3rd, Elliot Slack, Will Kellam and Brock Hudgens all reached via singles loading the bases. Cal Sutphin hit a 1-1 pitch deep over the left centerfield fence for a 4-2 lead and the Cowboys rolled from there. After the grand slam the Cowboys again loaded the bases and Elliott Slack cleared them with a 3 rbi triple to right center. The Cowboys scored 10 runs in the top of the 3rd to put the game away.

At 10-2, that was plenty for Brock Hudgens who pitched a complete game to get Southwest back to 2nd place in the conference. On the night Sutphin was 2-2 with 4 rbi’s, Slack had 2 hits and 3 rbi’s. Hudgens added two hits, Will Kellam and Seth Blair had three big hits apiece, and Bo Rein hit the ball hard all night and added another hit.

Next week Southwest has HP Andrews at home on Tuesday, at Southern Guilford Wednesday, home against Glenn on Thursday and home against Wesleyan on Saturday – nice week.

Ragsdale 12
Asheboro 0 five innings

Nick McBride got his seventh win against no losses giving up two hits tonight. McBride and Mike Whited both hit home runs tonight. Not a lot of other details.

Ragsdale is now 18-2 and 9-1 in conference. I believe that puts them three up with two to play so that should clinch the conference. I think Asheboro, SEG and Randleman are back in a deadlock for second.

Dudley 7
NE 3

Forsyth Country Day 10
Wesleyan Christian Academy 0

Chris Munnelly gets the win. Logan Self takes the loss.

  1. Can we hear from NWG or EF fans for some game details on EF victory? Newspaper had EF winning but Mekita as LP.

  2. Newspaper is correct. Stephen Mekita plays for Northwest and was the losing pitcher in the game
