“Tre” makes the play and the Galaxy has a great day/Tournament

The Greensboro Galaxy 9U AAU Boy’s Basketball team are the NC 9U AAU State Champs!

Back to Back state champs!

William Turner III, “Tre”, had a great tournament in the 1st game he scored 33pts shooting 6-8 from the 3 point line and dished out 6 assists. He scored 15 in the championship game! Other outstanding players over the weekend were Austin Inge and Montez Venable who are defensive masterminds!

The team has been under the leadership of Anthony Inge, Viveca Wingfield, and William Turner Jr. for most of the season. The head coach Rodney Westmoreland returned during pool play after suffering a heart attack in late December.

Rodney Westmoreland runs “Nothing But Basic Fundamentals” basketball training camp at Barber Park. This team was hand picked, by him, and most have been training with him for years.

The Galaxy placed #3 in Division I Nationals last summer and hopes to win a National title in Orlando this summer. The team is accepting in donations to help in their efforts to get to Florida.

Please contact Wendy Poteat, team mom/president, if you would like to make a contribution to helping these student athletes’s in their quest for a national title!

  1. That is a great job that they are doing with the Galaxy 9u team . Tre is the younger brother of Dudley’s PJ Hairston. It
sounds like to me that Trey can out shoot big brother. Watch out PJ.
