AJGA Returns to Sedgefield Country Club‏

We at the American Junior Golf Association are pleased to announce that the FootJoy Invitational will once again bring 99 of the nation’s top junior boy golfers to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., June 8-12. In the coming weeks, I will be sending you more information on the event, including all of the top-ranked players who will be competing in this national junior golf tournament.

The FootJoy Invitational is one of the AJGA’s most prestigious events. It is one of 12 Invitationals on the Association’s 86-tournament schedule and, now in its eighth year, the list of past winners reads as a who’s who amongst junior golf. The FootJoy Invitational, set up to mimic the Wyndham Championship, will test the juniors in four days of stroke play competition.

Four of the past seven champions have gone on to win Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors the same year as taking home the trophy at the boys-only event: Brian Harman (2003, 2004), Peter Uihlein (2007) and Cameron Peck (2008).

In 2008, Peck, who went on to claim two more victories in the summer, defeated Rak Cho of Brea, Calif., and William Sjaichudin of Bradenton, Fla., to win by six strokes.  The victory earned Peck a sponsor’s exemption into the 2008 Wyndham Championship.

Rob Goodman, Wyndham Championship director of media relations, will assist as the local media contact and can be reached at rob@3-gsports.com. I look forward to working with you on this event.

All the best,
Sara Wagoner
