From the Associated Press –
Eric Staal scored two goals to break the club career playoff scoring record, and the Carolina Hurricanes pushed the top-seeded Boston Bruins to the brink of elimination, pulling away late for a 4-1 victory Friday night.

The Hurricanes lead the Eastern Conference semifinal series 3-1. Game 5 is Sunday night in Boston.

Jussi Jokinen scored the go-ahead goal at 2:52 of the third and assisted on the two goals that followed, and Sergei Samsonov added a goal for the Hurricanes.

Marc Savard scored for the Bruins, who have lost three straight since sweeping Montreal in the first round and winning the opener against Carolina

Good job Doug on getting the Carolina score in for us tonight.

Do the Hurricanes have this round locked up?

  • Doug Cockman said,

Probably as close to a sure thing as you are going to get in playoff hockey.

Rangers were up 3 – 1 and lost to the Caps. Canes need to stay focused

RBC Building was electric last night. Fans let Boston Globe/ESPN’s Bob Ryan have it after he said the Hurricanes Fans/RBC Center was over rated.

It was also great to see such a small amount of Boston Fans. It is getting harder and harder for
visiting team fans to get tickets Caniacs are filling the building.

  • Doug Cockman said,

Nothing is a given, NJM is right but Boston doesn’t look like they have a lot of heart right now. I think the Canes win in Boston tomorrow night and close out the series.

  • Next Year Sabres said,

I think the Canes will close it out at home in 6.
