Northwest Guilford 4
West Forsyth 3

8 Innings

NWG(21-3)
*****Northwest was down 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning to West Foryth. Robbie McIntosh (UNC Asheville) hit in two runs to tie the score and send the game into extra innings. Sanders Kuxhausen hit a sac fly in what must have been a 10 pitch at-bat to score Phillip Dixon from third for the win. Robbie McIntosh got the win after excellent pitching by Ben Saunders. Alex Swim (Elon)was hot with the bat going 3 for 3. Northwest will play at Mt. Tabor Friday night. That was one of the longest and best At Bats that I have seen by Kuxhausen. AD*****

  1. In the 4th inning.. Glen Clemmons made an incredible catch at the fence in right center that would of scored 2 runs for West Forsyth and would have been a game changer. Great defense and crucial hits by the Vikings won in the end. Congrats go out to Coach Gann and the Vikings on a great win.

  2. My fault on reporting the sac fly scoring McKinny. As mentioned above, Phillip Dixon scored the run and had a great night at the plate going 3 for 4. Tip of the hat to Phillip Dixon and apologies on the mistake. All of the team played great defense. Glen Clemmons did make a heck of a catch with his speed in centerfield and Robbie McKintosh fielded one hot shot at third early in the game. Great game and a great will to come back for Northwest. The team is 21-3 on the season. The entire team is contributing and your community really appreciates this. Go get them on Friday night and stay up on those fences.

  3. Congradulations NW way to go!!! Everyone did a great job…Great team support and fan support. Unbelievable!!! We can do this guys. Go get Mt Tabor!

  4. FYI: Kronenfeld is in Virginia playing for Woodberry. They are correct. The name is Sanders Kuxhausen.

  5. Anyone know who will be pitching for Northwest on Friday night? Will it be Stephen Mekita???? Great combo job by Saunders and McIntosh last night on the mound.

Will Mount Tabor go with Matt Batts? At least I think that’s the kid who would be up in their rotation next. Mount Tabor went with Parker Thomas last night to get them to Friday.

Will Western Guilford go with Mark Leake next since Casey Jones was on the hill in last night’s win? Who was the winning pitcher for SWG in the win on Tuesday?

And just a few final thoughts on NWG. Mrs. McKinney does a super job on the PA system with who’s up, who’s on deck and who’s in the hole. Very helpful and informative and she also found the time to get her sons Brandon and Corey to the ballpark over the years and I wouldn’t be surprised if she keeps the scorebook too. Good jobs all the way around….

The fans were definitely into last night’s game at NWG. They were making noise and gave their Vikings a home field advantage and that was a key point especially when the WF Titan pitchers were trying to throw strikes and ended up walking batters.

More on the Batts kid from Mt. Tabor that NWG could be facing Friday:â–  Mat Batts wasn’t perfect Saturday during Mount Tabor’s five-inning, 11-0 win against East Burke in the first round of the NCHSAA 4-A baseball playoffs, but he was darn close.

Batts, a left-handed senior who pitched a perfect game against North Forsyth on May 6, followed that outing by pitching a no-hitter against East Burke and putting himself in rare company.

Batts is the 15th player in state history — according to the NCHSAA record book — to throw two straight no-hitters. The record is three straight, by Tommy Hayes of old Saratoga High in Wilson County. Rick Strunk of the NCHSAA said that records were incomplete and that he didn’t have details of Hayes’ accomplishment

The NWG game last night went long and I made it over to Western just in time to catch the final score off the scoreboard and to hear Chuck Mobley say that the Hornets would be home on Friday night versus Nothern Nash.

One final point on West Forsyth. They would have been the top team team coming out of that Piedmont 4-A Conference with Mount Tabor, but they had to forfeit two games around tournament time because one of their players was ruled ineligible when he turned in an incomplete physical exam report. Either he didn’t pass the physical or he had something that was left off of the physical and that made him ineligible for a couple of games, according to the Winston-Salem Journal……A very tough club, West Forsyth.

Good games last night with NWG by one(4-3) in extra innings, WG by one(6-5) in 7, and SWG by one(2-1) in 7.

Any word on how Dudley did down at Oxford Webb? We go looking and get back to you. Spread the word about the site and be sure to tell the kids to read it.

  6. Tip of the cap to Ben Saunders. Hard working kid who never quits and will battle you all night. Good to see him keeping his team in the game and giving them a chance to pick up the win late.

  7. Mark Leake was relieved early to save his arm by Nin Marrero. Casey Jones came on for the last couple of innings, so all pitchers will be fresh Friday night for Western Guilford.

  8. Wow what a game last night. That had to be one of the best games I’ve seen in a while. Ben Saunders pitched the best game of the year last night. He pitched an awesome 5 innings. Robbie McIntosh came in to relieve him in the 5th and pitched the best game of his career. Robbie was absolutely fabulous. Tha fans were fantastic. We need them at the game when we play Mt.Tabor. Someone get buses and take them where ever we go..they were crucial to our win..Everyone on the team contributed to the win.It was a great team effort. The Vikings are playing as one unit, a coaches dream, they never gave up. A true sign of a champion.

  9. That wasn’t a fair comment earlier on the Ragsdale kids. They didn’t win and I don’t even know these kids personally, but they deserve better than that…..
