  1. i haven’t made it out to any games yet, but i’m hearing the talent level has dropped off dramatically in colt ball. Is this true? where’s the talent? showcase? legion? just a couple years ago there were some studs in colt league. who are the studs now?

  2. i haven’t seen any games this year but i’m hearing the talent in colt ball has fallen off dramatically. is this true? if so, where are the players? showcase? legion? it was only a couple years ago there were some studs playing colt. thoughts?

  3. Nobody played tonight. They got rained out at War Memorial Stadium. I was there and so were the Moores and Terry the photographer.

There’s still talent, but you are right. Players are headed off in different directions…..

  4. Each school puts a different level of importance in Colt baseball. There is some good talent but they may not show up all of the time.

  5. When Askinazy was coaching Colt, the top players came out to play for him.

  6. Not always they didn’t. There were many a day some of Alan’s kids were away at showcase on weekends. Alan and his assistant even coached the showcase teams (Formerly Prepstars and now GBC). We were there with them. And just so you know, Grimsley leads the league so far.

Coach Maness was able to get most of his guys out to play. It’s tough with all the conflicts. He always told us the tourney was a priority and we had to be there, so we were. Plus, the boys enjoyed seeing their friends. For a young kid I would think you would want to be around your varsity HS coach. To each his own.

Some coaches just want their kids to go where they have the best chance to develop. Some want the kids to play together as a team. Each coach has different goals and objectives and how they want to get there.

Recently I have seen some top players out there, especially during the week. On weekends many play showcase. Some of the guys that play Legion make that their priority.

  7. kirk, you must be santa claus, you know all and you’re everywhere

i mean, who else would know so much about who was doing what on “many a day”?

  8. I can vouch that he was there and witnessed the same thing. So did I. My kid was there also. Truth hurts some people.
