Kernersville Bulldogs top Asheboro Copperheads at McCrary Park

The Kernersville Bulldogs(Wooden Bat Summer League team) took the Asheboro Copperheads(Coastal Plain League) last night 4-3 at Asheboro’s McCrary Park.

In the 2nd inning, Josh Strickland scored on a single by John Neese(Northwest Guilford/GTCC/Catawba). Then Neese scored on a hit by Myles Pearl. Aaron Jones(Grimsley/Gospel Light/UNCW) hit a solo homer in the 4th off of Austin Moyer(Southeast Guilford/USC-Upstate). Nick Rogers(NWG/N.C. A&T)) later doubled to score Brandon McKinney(NWG/GTCC).

Bulldogs Top CPL’s Copperheads 4-3

The Bulldogs would rely on solid pitching and timely hits to come away with a 4-3 victory over the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plain League. The Bulldogs fell behind early, as the Copperheads came out with an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. The Bulldogs were able to quickly answer back in the top of the 2nd inning as Josh Strickland singled and went on to score on a single by John Neese. Neese scored the second run of the inning on an RBI single by ourfielder Myles Pearl.

Mark Adzick relieved Bulldog starter Casey Smith and tossed two innings of no-hit baseball, striking out four Copperhead batters. The Bulldogs were able to capture the lead in the 4th inning on a solo homerun by Aaron Jones.

Corey Norman came to the mound for the Bulldogs in the 5th inning, surrendering only one hit to Asheboro. The Bulldogs were able to manufacture their final run of the game in the 6th inning when Brandon McKinney reached on an infield single and later scored on a double by Nick Rogers.

Nick Rogers tossed the final two innings of the game, surrendering one unearned run, two hits, and striking out for Copperhead batters. Mark Adzick picked up his first win as a Bulldog and Nick Rogers recorded his first save of the season.
