Wes Wrenn gets in the MLB Draft

I found another local connection that got drafted in the MLB draft over the past couple of days.

Wesley(Wes) Wrenn from the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina went in the 23rd round to the New York Mets and he was the 1,064th pick overall.

Wrenn is a pitcher from High Point Wesleyan(Wesleyan Christian Academy) and he posted a 9-3 record this past year for the Citadel Bulldogs as a senior.

Wrenn goes all the way to the Jamestown Jaguars coached by Dean Sink back in late 1990’s when the Jamestown kids were traveling the AAU circuit as a youth entry.

Alex Sink, Chad Baker, JK Whited, TJ Clegg and load of other kids were on that team that played from Concord, N.C. to Concord, Mass. and then all the way back down to Atlanta, Georgia and then they went on to Orlando, Florida for the Nationals. I remember one year when their team played in the extreme heat out in Oklahoma City for the National Championship.

Wes Wrenn is the son of Carl and Sandy Wrenn from the old Henry James BBQ on High Point and Randleman Roads and they are a very solid group of people.

Good luck to Wes Wrenn with the Mets and let us know if we left anybody else out that got drafted this week.
