NG’s Keenan Allen getting alot of looks

from Stan Olson at charlotteobserver.com:

Allen’s includes Clemson, Crimson Tide

Keenan Allen is arguably the most athletic rising senior in the state. The Northern Guilford standout is expected to be able to play safety or wide receiver in college, and schools talking to him are giving him the choice of playing offense or defense.

Yeah, he’s that good. So good that dad Scott Lang said this morning that Allen’s total number of scholarship offers is “in the thirties.”

Lang said his son, who has already camped at Alabama and Clemson and who recently took a west coast swing to camps at Oregon, Oregon State and California, will trim his list of favorites to five by the end of the summer.

And he said Allen, who is ranked No.4 on our N.C. Top Prospects list, is still wide open as to who will be on that list. But Lang did offer some clues.

“He really liked the atmosphere at Alabama and Clemson. And out west, he enjoyed his stops at Cal and Oregon.”

If your favorite school isn’t mentioned above, keep in mind that Allen has also visited most of the major universities in the area. And your team might pop up on that list of five.

  1. How can anyone say that Keenan Allen is the best in the state. He has yet to play a varsity schedule against varsity competition. If he can play well against Dudley, Cummings, Reidsville, Western Alamance, Northeast Guilford, etc. and do well, we can make that asserion about him.

  2. Not to create an arguement, but just a point. He did play against Varsity competition while he was at Grimsley and looked pretty good.

Put up some solid numbers as a return man and as a runningback/receiver.

  3. Thanks Andy for clearing that up. Keenan started varsity at Grimsley his freshman and sophmore year. And yes he did have two solid years playing against tough 4a teams at that. Plus Keenan took a 75 yard screen pass to the house against Dudley his sophmore year.

  4. Oppenheimerfund,

You must live in the back woods as a country hillbilly, Keenan put on a show against Dudley, Keenan and his older brother(zach) put on a clinic and Grimsley was the only team to beat them (dudley) on there way to their first state championship. When a young man has gone across the country and faced the best competition, well that speaks for it self. Yes I would say he is the best pound for pound player in the state.

  5. are u sure his eligible to play his senior year because i know a list of football players on northern guilford roster who shouldnt even be going there cause trust me i know who suppose to be at northern and who dont and from what i hear Mr. Allen is one of them

  6. NW VIKING21
are you stupid, Keenan lives in district…don’t get mad that NW is going to get their *** kicked by northern next year
