GREENSBORO, N.C. – David Toms, Boo Weekley, Bubba Watson and John Daly have committed to play in the 70th annual Wyndham Championship, it was announced today. The 2009 Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 17-23 at Sedgefield Country Club.

Toms is currently 11th in the PGA TOUR FedExCup point standings. The 12-time PGA TOUR winner will be making his 11th Wyndham Championship appearance; he recorded his best finish here in 2004 when he tied for fourth place. The Louisiana State University alumnus won the 2001 PGA Championship.

Weekley is a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR, but he is perhaps best known for his stellar performance in last year’s Ryder Cup Matches. He earned two and a half points in his three Ryder Cup matches while also serving as the winning United States team’s emotional leader. He received worldwide attention for “riding” his driver “cowboy horse” style down the first fairway. The Jay, Fla. resident turned professional in 1997 and began playing PGA TOUR events in 2002. He has never played in the Wyndham Championship.

Watson will be making his third Wyndham Championship appearance. Watson enjoyed his best PGA TOUR season to date in 2008 making the TOUR Championship and finishing 30th in the final FedExCup standings. The University of Georgia alumnus made his first PGA TOUR start in 2002 but began playing fulltime in 2006. Known as an ultra-long driver of the golf ball, Watson led the PGA TOUR in driving distance last year averaging 315.4 yards per drive.

Daly is enjoying resurgence in his career. He finished second in the BMW Italian Open on May 10 and is now continuing his comeback on the PGA TOUR. In his first TOUR event since his return, he shot a four-under-par 68 in the second round of the St. Jude Classic presented by FedEx last month, made the cut and finished tied for 59th place.

Daly has committed to the Wyndham Championship through the PGA TOUR. Should he not qualify for the tournament, he will play on a sponsor’s exemption. Daly has five PGA TOUR wins including the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 British Open. Daly will be making his 10th Wyndham Championship appearance.
