The Greensboro Colts are having their season-ending tournament which preceeds the All-Stars each year and the tourney is running throughout this week at Stoner-White Stadium in Jaycee Park.

The Tuesday tilts were tight with these two finals from Round One:

Western Guilford 4
Northern Guilford 3

Eastern Guilford 3
High Point Wesleyan 2

I spoke briefly with Northern’s Jeremy Campbell after his game and he and his dad Dustin said they are ready for a break before school starts back up in August. I was looking for Western’s Brandon Ahrens and his dad Bill for a comment, but I couldn’t find them after the game.

The Colts led by Donnie Stowe and Dave Thomas have come up with a real nice program that showcases the league, the current kids and previous Greensboro Colt clubs that experienced much success. I was reading something somewhere, that one of the Colts from back in the early 80’s, I believe it was Harry Parrish, had passed away, not sure if that is accurate or not, still checking.

Eastern Guilford has the most active and rowdy fans in the league with a number of those “Wild Wildcat” student fans, both male and female in attendance. EG football coach Scott Loosemore has a son that plays for Eastern’s Colt team and he was at the game. Eatern is coached by their AD Randall Hackett and the baseball coach from EG, Coach Brady, is his assistant.

Andy, Sorry we missed you last night. We stayed and watched some of the second game so were a little late making our way out. The fellas that are running the leauge here are A1 and do a fantastic job and are to be commended. BTW I was told that Central had forfeited to SW on Monday.
