Power comes up short as Bulldogs top PP on Tuesday

The Proehlific Power dropped a game Tuesday night.

The Power lost 7-5 to the Kernersville Bulldogs. The game was tied heading into the bottom of the 8th until Kernersville broke for two runs. The Power got off to a slow start giving up 5 runs in the top of the first but answered with 3 in the bottom of 1st on a 2 run homer by Trey Such.

The Power fought back and tied the game in the 4th and pretty much was a even game til the bottom of the eighth inning.

Kernersville (27-4) overall and (21-2) CVCL

The Kernersville Bulldogs defeated the Proehlific Power 7-5 on Tuesday night in Greensboro, NC. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, scoring five runs on four hits in the top of the first inning. The Power answered back, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and two runs in the third inning, to tie the game at five.

The game would remain tied at five until the top of the seventh, when the Bulldogs were able to manufacture two runs. Back-to-back singles by Brad Pippa and Lester Rivenbard led off the inning, putting runners at first and second for the Bulldogs. Stephen Andrews drew a a walk to load the bases. Spencer Andrews singled, scoring the go-ahead run. Rivenbark went on to score on a throwing error by the shortstop.

The two run lead would prove enough insurance as JD Dudding came in to close out the Bulldog victory. Dudding tossed three shutout innings of no-hit baseball, picking up his first save of the season.

Jacob Moore picked up the win on the mound, hurling three shutout innings, giving up no Proehlific hits and striking out three hitters. With the win, Moore earned his second win of the season, extending his record to 2-1.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday, July 8th as they take on the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plain League. Game time is set for 7:20 PM in Martinsville.
