Golf Ball Flies through the Piedmont Triad

GREENSBORO, N.C. – It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s golf ball. Piedmont Triad golf fans will soon be seeing a Wyndham Championship golf ball flying through the region in the PGA TOUR event’s latest ad campaign, it was announced today.

Produced by WilsonMcGuire Creative in Winston-Salem, N.C., the tournament’s new ad campaign features a Wyndham Championship golf ball in multiple parts of the Piedmont Triad with the caption, “Big Time Golf Hits the Triad.” The Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event returns to Sedgefield Country Club Aug. 17-23.

“I love these ads,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “We have been promoting regionalism through the Wyndham Championship for quite a while now, and these ads really capture our message. The entire region is now supporting this golf tournament in both sponsorship and fan participation, and we wanted advertising that reflected the current makeup of the event. We congratulate LeAnn Wilson McGuire and her staff for creating this campaign.”

Versions of the ad will appear on television, in posters and print advertising. Print and poster versions show the ball landing at the home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers in downtown Greensboro, at the intersection of Fourth and Trade streets in downtown Winston-Salem and in the ninth fairway at Sedgefield Country Club.

The television version shows the ball traveling through Winston-Salem, High Point and Greensboro before landing in front of the ninth green at Sedgefield Country Club and making a huge divot. It makes a similar divot at the baseball stadium. The print and television versions can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Greensboro-NC/Wyndham-Championship/69282891004?ref=s. High-resolution versions are available upon request.

“We are really pleased with this campaign,” WilsonMcGuire Creative president and creative director LeAnn Wilson McGuire said. “It allowed us to demonstrate the unifying effect the Wyndham Championship has on our community– both visually and literally. And, with the help of our talented friends at Big Wheel and Out of Our Minds, we got to dabble with some pretty cool technology along the way.”
