COMMIT TO WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Brian Gay, David Duval, Webb Simpson and Bill Haas have committed to play in the Wyndham Championship, it was announced today. The 70th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 17-23 at Sedgefield Country Club.

These golfers join defending champion Carl Pettersson, U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover, Boo Weekley, David Toms, John Daly and Bubba Watson in the field.

Gay is currently eighth in the FedExCup point standings. He won the Verizon Heritage and the St. Jude Classic presented by FedEx earlier this season after earning his first PGA TOUR victory last year. He is 36th in the latest Official World Golf Rankings.

Duval finished tied for second in the 2009 U.S. Open. He has 13 career PGA TOUR victories including the 2001 British Open. He was the No. 1 player in the world in 1999 when he broke Tiger Woods’ string of 41 consecutive weeks in the position.

Simpson, an alumnus of Wake Forest, turned professional last year and earned his PGA TOUR card after finishing tied for seventh at the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament. In this his rookie season, he has made 11 cuts in 20 tournaments and has recorded two top-10 finishes. He is currently 73rd in the FedExCup point standings.

Haas, also an alumnus of Wake Forest University, finished third in the 2009 Valero Texas Open. Last year, his third season on TOUR, he made the cut in 18 of 31 starts including a career-best 10 top-25 finishes. Haas played on the Walker Cup team in 2003. The Charlotte native lives in Greenville, S.C.
