The Will call on Hoppers Christmas Saturday at NewBridge Bank Park

GRASSHOPPERS TO BRING HOLIDAY SPIRIT TO NEWBRIDGE BANK PARK

GREENSBORO, NC—The true energy of the holiday season will be alive at NewBridge Bank Park on Saturday, July 25th, as the Salvation Army and the Greensboro Grasshoppers team up to present their third annual Christmas in July celebration.

In addition to the summer gift that keeps on giving—the excitement of Grasshoppers baseball—NewBridge Bank Park will open its gates for a night of spirited gift giving and special events the entire family can enjoy.

In true Christmas fashion, the ballpark will be adorned with the sights and sounds of the wintertime holiday, including a 12-foot tree and the familiar jingle of the Salvation Army bell at each entrance to the ballpark. Fans will be welcomed by Santa Claus himself, who will be down from his North Pole perch to help the Grasshoppers spread the Christmas cheer to fans at NewBridge Bank Park.

At the heart of the Yuletide festivities will be a toy drive presented by the Salvation Army. The drive, dedicated to the selfless giving that has become synonymous with the holiday, will provide fans the opportunity to work with the Salvation Army to lend a hand to families in need this upcoming holiday season.

“We are happy to partner with the Salvation Army on this fun-filled night, and we appreciate all they do within our community to bring joy to the lives of local residents,” said President and General Manager Donald Moore.

Those in attendance will also have the chance to participate in the holiday happenings, singing and dancing to popular Christmas music, and even sledding down a snow-covered Natty’s Hill. Fans are encouraged to register for the Grasshoppers’ own gift-giving extravaganza, the nine innings of Christmas.

Between innings, Santa Claus will announce the winners of the nine innings of Christmas, a game-long giveaway where lucky fans will be selected to win prizes from Dick’s Sporting Goods, the High Point Marriot, the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the grand prize, an ultimate tailgating package, highlighted by a propane grill, and much, much more.

“Thanks to our community’s generosity, we can spread the blessings of Christmas year round, and raise the spirit of everyone that benefits from the everyday programs and services we provide,” said Major Paul Egan, corps officer, The Salvation Army of Greensboro.

Don’t forget SkyRocket Saturdays presented by YES! Weekly, Wrangler, and WMAG, where fireworks will light up the sky above NewBridge Bank Park immediately following the conclusion of the Saturday contest.

The Grasshoppers finished the 2008 season with an attendance of 440,787 and have welcomed over 1,715,000 fans to NewBridge Bank Park, drawing over 400,000 fans in each of its first four years at the new downtown ballpark. The team is the proud recipient of both the South Atlantic League’s Club Merit Award and the General Manager of the Year Award for the past four years.

Tickets and group packages are now on sale for the 2009 season. For more information, please contact the Grasshoppers office at 336.268.BALL or visit www.gsohoppers.com.
