This Wednesday through Saturday the Colt Baseball East Zone Tournament will be going on at Greensboro’s War Memrial Stadium. The winner will have their ticket punched for Lafayette, Indiana and the Colt Baseball World Series.

Greensboro will have two chances to get that ticket with the Greensboro Green team(Host Representative) and the Greensboro Gray, the South Region winner from last weekend, both in the hunt.

Plan on getting out to the old ballyard on Yanceyville and Lindsey Streets to support the local teams and all the teams in the Tournament. Let’s make our city look like we welcome the visiting teams into town as we have for many years.(Don Stowe, Larry Moore, Dave Thomas and associates.)

Greensboro Green versus West Region on Wednesday at 8pm and then Greensboro Gray will take on the winner of that game on Thursday at 6pm.

Anyone who has ever had anything to do with Greensboro Youth Baseball at the 15-16 year old level understands that the Colt tournament has been a part of our community’s tradition since the early 1960’s. Greensboro and Guilford county boys have represented their city and county in this summer event for years. This is all put on by volunteers who only receive the gratification of knowing they may have helped a young man along the way who was a member of their community and who had taken an interest in the great sport of baseball.

Thanks to all the volunteers over the years and the Colt tradition of helping young men. We hope the community comes out in large numbers to not only support the young men and coaches of their community, but to also pay tribute to the rich and long standing tradition of youth baseball in a setting that was built to honor our veterans we call Memorial Stadium.
