Mitch Atkins retires the side in the ninth in his Major League debut

Mitch Atkins(Northeast Guilford HS) called up Wednesday, retired the side in the ninth in his Major League debut for the Chicago Cubs.

CHICAGO — Randy Wells compiled an 0-2 record in his first four starts this season despite a 1.80 ERA, as the Cubs scored a total of five runs while he was in the game.

They surpassed that number in the first inning of a 12-0 Cubs win over the Astros on Wednesday.

The Cubs won for the sixth time in seven games and moved into a virtual tie for first in the National League Central with the Cardinals, who play the Dodgers on Wednesday night.

Mitch Atkins(NEG), recalled Wednesday, retired the side in the ninth in his Major League debut.

Not a bad way to start out your Major League career. Great job by Mitch Atkins.
