No Bob, Barry or Kendall Windham, but Wyndham Championship field taking shape

We have no Bob Windham(Blackjack Mulligan), Barry Windham or Kendall Windham coming to town; but after wrestling with a tight and tough economy, the Wyndham Championship coming to Sedgefield, is starting to really come together as we head toward August.

WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP MEDIA DAY NOTES

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 70th annual Wyndham Championship is just three weeks away; below are some pre-tournament notes for the PGA TOUR event set for Aug. 17-23 at Sedgefield Country Club.

► The Field: With three weeks to go until tournament week, the Wyndham Championship field is starting to take shape. Among the players who have made recent commitments to play the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event are 2007 champion Brandt Snedeker, 1992 and 2006 champion Davis Love III, 1999 champion Jesper Parnevik, NC State alumnus Tim Clark and Nathan Green, winner of yesterday’s weather-delayed Canadian Open. Bo Van Pelt, winner of this year’s Milwaukee Open, joined the field yesterday. These players join others who have already committed including defending champion Carl Pettersson, U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover, Boo Weekley, David Duval, Brian Gay, David Toms, John Daly, Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson and Bill Haas.

â–º Bring Your VIC Card: Wyndham Championship good-any-day tickets will be available at Piedmont Triad-area Harris Teeter stores beginning tomorrow, Wednesday July 29th. Harris Teeter customers with a VIC card will receive a $10 discount on good-any-day tickets, making it $25 instead of the regular $35 price. Tournament tickets are also available at www.wyndhamchampionship.com.

â–º Autograph Zones: The Wyndham Championship is introducing three autograph zones this year to help fans get the PGA TOUR player autographs. Graphic Visual Solutions Autograph Zones will be located at the practice range, the putting green and in the area between the ninth and 18th greens. Graphic Visual Solutions, located in High Point, N.C., specializes in printing, imaging and visual solutions.

â–º New Pro-Am Sponsor: Wrangler, a division of VF Corporation, is the new sponsor of the Wyndham Championship Monday pro-am. Earlier this summer, New Breed Logistics became the title sponsor of the Wednesday pro-am.

â–º Sedgefield Members Day: Monday of Wyndham Championship tournament week has been designated as Sedgefield Members Day when only Sedgefield Country Club members will be permitted on the tournament grounds. The tournament will be closed to the general public that day.

â–º New Will Call Location: Wyndham Championship Will Call has a new location this year. It will be in the Adams Farm Shopping Center parking lot in a large BB&T mobile banking center. Wyndham fans will be able to pick up tickets and withdraw cash from the Official Bank of the Wyndham Championship at one location. Wyndham Championship Will Call is located at the intersection of High Point Road and Mackay Road. Public parking is at the intersection of High Point Road and Guilford College Road.

► Television and Radio Times Announced: With PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and LPGA events in three different time zones during Wyndham Championship week, the PGA TOUR is being creative in its television times in order to allow golf fans to see as much of the three tournaments as possible. Thursday’s first round will be broadcast on The Golf Channel from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and replayed at 10 p.m. Friday’s second round will be on The Golf Channel from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. with a replay on Versus at 7 p.m. and the Golf Channel at 1:30 a.m. On Saturday, third-round play will be on CBS Sports from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. CBS Sports will broadcast the final round of the Wyndham Championship from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23. SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio will broadcast all four tournament days from Noon until 6 p.m. with a highlight show from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. each day.
