An open letter from a Greensboro golf fan to Lucas Glover and ALL the other ” commitments” to the tournament‏

from Jim Modlin:

Dear Lucas and fellow PGA pros,

OK guys, we know most of you are playing this weekend, either at the WGC or in Nevada. We also are keenly aware that the PGA Championship is next week and then comes our little event at Sedgefield-right before the start of the FedEx Cup deal.

Having set the stage of events, it is easy to see that a LONG grind of six to seven tournaments in successive weeks is possible, if you play well enough to make all of the cuts. We also know that you don’t need the almost $1,000,000 that goes to the winner of our “little” tournament.

The bottom line is that we, the Greensboro golf fans, need YOU! Last year’s return to Sedgefield exceeded almost everyone’s expectations, even us older guys that grew up playing and watching golf at the famed course. Heck, I wasn’t very good, but made sure I made the Ragsdale golf team, just so I could play at Sedgefield-the school’s home course at the time. The economy is not on our side, but the tradition that was reincarnated last year is.

So, please if you can HONOR your commitment and the Friday before the start of the tournament, let Mark Brazil and the boys know that you will BE here. I can assure you the golf fans of The Triad will make you more than glad that you did. Hey, your financial adviser will know exactly what to do with the fat little paycheck, should you hoist The Sam Snead Trophy Sunday afternoon on the 18th. green, in front of some of the most appreciative golf fans in the world.
