Game under way in the top of the second with Santa Clara at the bat with two men on and and two men gone. Colon on the hill for Greensboro and with a ground ball to the shortstop for GB and then the throw over to first base inning ends with two Santa Clara runners left on base and there’s no score between GB and SC as we head toward the bottom of the second and GSO Green to the plate.

Two-out single by AJ Williams back up the middle for Greensboro Green and there’s one on with two gone for GB. Williams forced out at second for out number three after a ground ball fielder’s choice from Tucker Rogers.

Still no score GB Green and Santa Clara as we head toward the top of the third. One on and a base hit to centerfield on a line drive and Santa Clara scores from second to go up 1-0 over Greensboro Green in the top of the third. Called strike three as Josiel Colon of GB strikes out the next Santa Clara batter and we head to the bottom of the third with Santa Clara in front 1-0…..

Ground out Harrelson, Fly out Colon, walk by Kuxhasen, Highfill reaches on the E-6 ground ball play and Greensboro has two on with two gone in the bottom of the third. Ground out to second by Luis Paula to end the inning and Greensboro Green leaves two men stranded in the bottom of the third and trails 1-0 as we head to the top of the fourth. Santa Clara, California 1, Greensboro Green 0.

Two on for Santa Clara in the top of the 4th and a sacrifice bunt advances both SC runners to second and third. One got on HBP and the other a line drive base hit. Two on, one gone for SC. Colon strikes out one, but a two-out bloop hit to right scores two for Santa Clara on a two-run, two-out single. 3-0 now, with Santa Clara in front and pop-up E-4 called on Greensboro with Chris Harrelson playing at second base and Greensboro is in trouble. Bases now loaded with two outs and a base hit by Santa Clara and three runs score after a single and with five runs coming to the plate in the top of the 4th, Santa Clara now leads Greensboro Green 6-0 as we head to the bottom of the 4th inning.

Very rough top of the 4th with Santa Clara up 6-0. Ground out by Hodges to the third baseman, line drive by Schmucker in the infield and then a line drive to the outfield by AJ Williams and Greensboro goes 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 4th inning. After 4 innings, it’s Santa Clara 6, Greensboro Green 0……

Top of the fifth and two men get on for Santa Clara and Greensboro will pull pitcher Colon and Ben Schmucker is in to pitch for GB Green. Balk called on Schmucker and another Santa Clara run scores and SC is on the board again and SC leads it 7-0. Two men on and just one gone as Schmucker hits a batter and SC pulls a double-steal and GB Green gets the man at second, but the run scores from third and Santa Clara moves ahead 8-0 over Greensboro Green after a ground ball to end the top of the fifth.

After four-and-a-half innings it’s 8-0 Santa Clara with Greensboro Green heading back to the plate in the bottom of the fifth. Bottom of the fifth and Greensboro Green goes 1-2-3 and after five innings the score stands Santa Clara, California 8, Greensboro Green 0.

Top six and Santa Clara loads the bases against Ben Schmucker with one out after a hit by pitch and then with the bases loaded a ground ball to the shortstop ends up headed toward left field and two runs score to make it 10-0 Santa Clara. After a fly ball for out number two Schmucker walks a man to load the bases again, still with two outs. Fly ball to Greensboro Green center fielder Sanders Kuxhausen and then inning ends, but not before Santa Clara puts up two more runs on the board to lead it 10-0 after five-and-a-half innings.

Bottom of the sixth and here we go and this is it for Greensboro Green unless they can mount a charge. A walk for GB Green to start things off and then a fly out, followed by a ground ball in the infield, right into a double play and the final is on the board with Santa Clara, California winning it 10-0 over the Greensboro Green Colt team.

Santa Clara 10-10-1

This will take great coaching to get these boys focussed again and ready for the next game tomorrow night. Tey will be up against a home team that will have the crowd behind them. Surprised if they get to the medal round but hopeful!
