Jake Peavy in Charlotte-Fort Mill tonight/Wil Myers in Burlington Monday?

There are very few times when a Cy Young winner will pitch at the Charlotte Knights’ Stadium.

Thursday/TONIGHT, however, Charlotte will be treated to 2007 Cy Young winner Jake Peavy making his Chicago White Sox rehab start against Pawtucket in Fort Mill.

Game time is 7:15 p.m. and a few good seats remain although they’re going quick.

Peavy, traded about 4 minutes before the trade deadline on July 31 from the Padres to the White Sox, has a 3.97 ERA, uncharacteristically high, although several of his starts came on a bad ankle.

Peavy strained a tendon in his ankle in late May and finally hit the shelf on June 9 after trying to be a warrior and pitch on in it a couple times. No dice.

As of a few minutes ago, you could still get seats in the Field Box and Lower Reserve sections, although it was as far down the line as you can get. General Admission seats ($7) are also still available.

(It would probably be a good idea to call Knights Stadium today, in advance, to see how many tickets are left before you head down to Charlotte tonight.)

On the Wil Myers front, we heard yesterday that there is an outside chance he may be ready to sign with the Kansas City Royals and he could be in Burlington, N.C. as early as next Monday or Tuesday and in uniform for the Burlington ball club, a Royals affiliate in the Appalachian League….. Wil Myers, the State HS Baseball player of the year in North Carolina this past spring, out of Wesleyan Christian Academy/High Point Wesleayn…..

  1. NWG – No QB named as of yet, Instead of the Vikings, they should be called the DIAPER DANDY’S. Only 4 returning starters and a lot of JV. Should be a long season for the DD’S.
