Rangers bring on Nick McBride

Good news for Nick McBride(fromer Ragsdale Tiger) as he officially joins the Texas Rangers organization and you could see him in Hickory with the Crawdads as early as next season.

I heard a game on the radio last Saturday night coming in out of Roanoke, Virginia, featuring the Salem Red Sox and David Mailman has moved up to the Advanced Class A level with Salem…..

The Rangers have signed Ragsdale HS (Jamestown, N.C.) righthander Nick McBride for $325,000. That’s the second-highest bonus in the fifth round so far this year, behind D’Vontrey Richardson’s $400,000 from the Brewers, and nearly double MLB’s $163,800 recommendation for McBride’s draft slot (No. 154 overall).

Highly projectable at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, McBride has an 87-90 mph fastball and mid-70s slider. He had committed to East Carolina.

Texas also has agreed to terms with Walters State (Tenn.) lefthander Chad Bell (14th round) and Clear Creek HS (League City, Texas) righthander Shawn Blackwell (22nd round). Terms of those deals have yet to be released.
