Bob Lowe has been promoted to assistant athletics director for communications, announced Jean Lojko, the Greensboro College athletics director.

Lowe was hired as The Pride’s sports information director in the Fall of 1999. He has provided publicity for GC’s 16 intercollegiate athletic teams.

“Bob has been a visionary as our Sports Information Director and has done a great job serving Greensboro College and his profession,” said Lojko. “Because of Bob’s vision, Greensboro College has been on the forefront of many new achievements including webcasting and video streaming of our contests. The Greensboro College Sports web site is one of the best in the nation for an NCAA Division III program.”

Lowe is the driving force behind PrideNet/PrideTV, which offers live and archived streaming media of Greensboro College athletic events. In addition, he’s been responsible for upgrading the college’s athletic web site–the most recent being in August of 2008.

In 2004 and ’05, Lowe served as media coordinator for the NCAA Division III men’s and women’s soccer championships. The highly successful events were held in the Gate City and hosted by The Pride. The championships returned to Greensboro again in the Fall of 2008.

A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Lowe received two first place regional writing awards in 2000 from the professional organization. He serves on CoSIDA’s computer committee and has had a number of professional articles published in the CoSIDA Digest. In July of 2008 Lowe was selected to the inaugural D3-SIDA Board, an advisory group that represents NCAA Division III SIDs for CoSIDA.

At the 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2008 CoSIDA Conventions, Lowe led discussions regarding broadcasting on the Internet. At the 2004 convention, Lowe also served on a panel discussion concerning technology. He was selected chairman of the CoSIDA Technology committee in July of 2003 and has helped coordinate technology sessions each year at the workshop.

In the summer of 2002, Lowe helped form the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA). Since that time, NCCSIA has honored more than 700 “All State” student athletes. He currently serves as the organization’s treasurer.

A native of Whittier, Ca., Lowe received a bachelor’s degree in journalism–with an emphasis in radio and television news–from San Diego State University. In August 2009 he completed his first triathlon (sprint, not Iron Man).

Lowe resides in Greensboro with his wife, Kim, and young daughter, Brinley.
