From the locker room: Buffalo Bulls and Zach Maynard start strong!

Zach Maynard the former Grimsley star lead Buffalo to a stunning 23-17 win, over the University of Texas El Paso, in its opener. Zach completed 12-19 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 19 yards.. He was named player of the game.

Zach only started one year at Grimsley after his transfer from Eastern Guilford. He led Grimsley to a 13-1 season and was All Conference. Zach is comparable to Pat White the former West Virginia quarterback who now plays for the Miami Dolphins.

Turner Gill the head coach had a keen eye when he recruited Maynard. How he got out of this area is unthinkable.

His brother Keenan Allen who plays for Northern Guilford is the best player from this area in the last 20 years and that includes Tripp Welborn from Page who later starred at Michigan and Robert Siler from Siler City who decided to play basketball at Wake Forest.

These two players(Zach and Keenan) could one day be playing at the highest level if they do not get hurt along the way. Keenan could start as a freshmen for whatever college he attends.

All North Carolina schools including one locally, you let one get away; Do not make the same mistake again.
