Another McAdoo(Bob’s nephew) headed to North Carolina

from Stan “The Man” Olson at the Charlotte Observer on-line and Click Here for all the details, we have this piece of basketball news, as PJ Hairston of Dudley will have a teammate at UNC, who’s uncle went to Smith HS……Here’s the scoop and the soup:

While celebrating the 2009 NCAA championship over the holiday weekend, North Carolina secured a commitment from a player who could keep the Tar Heels in contention for future titles.

James McAdoo, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound junior forward from Norfolk (Va.) Christian School with strong basketball tradition and a tie to North Carolina in his family, has committed to the Tar Heels. Scout.com ranks McAdoo as the No. 2 player in his class.

McAdoo’s uncle, Bob McAdoo(Greensboro Smith High School), was a second-team Associated Press’ All-American at North Carolina in 1971-72, when he averaged 19.5 points and 10.1 rebounds and led the Tar Heels to the Final Four. James’ parents, Ronnie and Janet McAdoo, played basketball at Old Dominion.

James’ sister, Kelsey, is a junior who plays for the Charlotte 49ers. Ronnie McAdoo, who’s originally from Mebane, said North Carolina, Duke and Virginia were the final schools James considered.

“James likes the up-and-down pace, the way Coach (Roy) Williams plays,” Ronnie said.

McAdoo averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds last season.
